01-14-52 v MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN COUNCIL
HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON MONDAY, JANUARY 14TH, 1952 AT 8 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Adams, and went
immediately into session dor Public Hearing covering re-zoning of two
Business "B" areas to Residence "B". These are located at corner of
East Coast Drive and 16th and 15th Streets, and- in Saltair at the junc-
tion of Plaza, Saltair Blvd. and Sherry Drive. There was no one present
objecting and after a discussion upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded
by Mr. Mason Ordinance # 145 covering this amendment to Ordinance # 50
was passed on 3rd and final reading.. Proof of Publication covering
notice of this hearing is attached hereto and made a part of these min-
utes. -
Minutes of the regular meeting of December 10, 1954 were read, and
upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Thames were approved as read.
Mr. Brotchie reported that he has- talked with Mr. Adeeb of the Copper
Kettle, Inc., and that he promises ta do whatever possible to do away
with the fumes. He wishes to co-operate with the Town.
The matter of petting Atlantic Boulevard included in the State Road
Dept's. 1952 budget was discussed. It was advised that a delegation
was going from Jacksonville Beach headed by Mayor Sams. Mr. Adams and
Mr. Brotchie plan to go from the Town,• and perhaps Mr. Harcourt Bull and
Mr. George Mozo, jr. It was brought out that the more who go, the better
it will be.
Mr. Brotchie reported on meeting of Airport committee with Navy Commander
who advised that the Navy's answer was still "no", however, opinion that
they should go en with their contacts- with CAA, and plans for an alternate
strip in South Jacksonville Beach. The Committee are going to get up es-
timates of a second airport . They were to report what has been done to
their Councils and meet again in the near future.

The Town Clerk reported that the/payment had been made to the Beach Bank
on the Waterworks Contract..
A letter wasread from Clow & Co. that they are ready with shipment of
pipe, and the Town Manager was advised to instruct them that we are ready
for the shipment to be made.
Mr. Brotchie advised that work is continueing on clearing the Plaza right-
of-way thru to Mayport Road.
The Treasurer'srreport was presented, and upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded
by Mr. Kirby it was approved with balances as follows:

Mr. Rosborough reported that Mr. Russell, Town Marshall was ill and that he
felt we should see that he be taken to hospital if it developed that it is
his heart, and he needs to be hospitalized. This was agreed. Mr. Brotchie
advised that he would keep in touch, and do whatever was needed.
It was reportedtthat Mr. A.B. Parsons, grader operator was recovering nicely
from his accident, and expects to be back on the job in a few weeks. His jaw
is still wired to-Aether.
There being no further matters for consideration, Mr. Mason moved adjournment
from day to day.
