06-04-51 v MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN COUNCIL
HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON MONDAY, JUNE 4th, 1951 AT 8 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Adams.
The matter of an extra policeman for the months of June, July and
August was discussed at length. Mr. Mason advised that one man
cannot stop speeding alone, and that he needs help to do it. It was
brought out that home towners should be stopped as well as visitors
and out of town cars, and Mr. Adams advised that he felt that visitors
• and out of town cars should be given one warning first, and a ticket
on the second offence. Mr. Kirby suggested thatsigns be put up
advising that the speed laws are enforced, and it was agreed that
this was a good idea.
There was further discussion and Mr. Kirby moved that an extra
policeman he hired for the months of June July and August, and
thru Sept, 3rd, at a salary of $200. per month, or $600 for the
term thru Sept. 3rd; that he furnish and maintain his motorcycle,
and the Town to furnish the fuel for same; that his insurance be
increased to 25 and 50 thousand dollars liability, and,lendorsed to
"and/ot Town of Atlantic Bac Florida"; that he is to work under
and his tenure of service/ Rd the discretion of the Town Marshall.
This motion was seconded by Mr. Thames and carried.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Kirby the Chairman of
the Police Committee is to hire the new assistant marshall in line
with the preeeeding motion.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames the meeting adjourned from day to day.
