COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON TUESDAY, LARCH 22nd, 1949
AT 8 P. M.

The meeting was called to order by the President , Mr. Ganzel.
Business was suspended and they went into a meeting of the
Public Works Committee together with members of the Citizens
Waterworks Committee , Mr. Goodling, iir. Keyser and iir. Gay
being the representatives present .
After full discussion between the Committees the meeting was
again called to order.
Mr. Ganzel summarized the results of recent investigations ,
the information obtained from the Town Engineers and the
result of Committee work.
Upon motion of fir. Rawls , seconded by Er. B:emer, it was
unanimously agreed that the T own now undert .ke the following j
waterworks program; all of which is in conformity with the
plans and specifications heretofore submitted and approved
except as to limitations now agreed upon:
1. The erection of the water Distribution System at the
Army Camp site .
2 . Following the Engineer' s flow line specifications from
the plant to Sherry Drive thence to 7th Street ; thence
along 7th Street to connect with existing six inch
main on 7th Street ; take off of main at 10th Street
and Sherry Drive thence to Beach Ave to connect with
existing four inch main; take off of main at 10th
Street and East Coast Drive thence to connect with
existing four inch main that forms a loop to the west
of East Coast Drive ; by connecting existing mains feed-
ing south on East Coast Drive , Ocean Blvd. and Beach Ave. ,
providing Gate or Cut-off valves to all lines leading to
and upon the Hotel Reservation.
That IIr. LeRoy Johnson be and he is hereby authorized and
directed to carry these new plans to Smith and Gillespie with
authority to authorize them to proceed with the preparation of
plans to be submitted for bid ; and further that the Town Attorney
be authorized to take such legal steps as are necessary to set
the matter in motion.
Mr. Mason explained about a misunderstanding with the Town' s
Auditors on the amount to be paid them for this year' s audit .
fIr. Mason then moved that the offer made previously be withdrawn.
That only the annual audit for a fee of X250 be authorized. That
if a special audit is required for use by the Town ' s Fiscal Agent
that this be made the subject of a separate negotiation. The Town
Supervisor is authorized and directed to advise the auditors
accordingly. The motion was seconded by Mr. Rawls and adopted.
The Mayor raised the question of sidewalk on Atlantic Blvd. from
East Coast Drive to the new Post Office .

Upon motion of Mr. Rawls, seconded by Mr. Bremer the Town
Supervisor was directed to prepare plans and estimates of
cost for this sidewalk to be considered at the next meeting.
Mr. Ganzel read a letter received from the A & N Club. This
letter was discussed and f fled for information to be answered
in due course.
Upon motion of Mr. Rawls, seconded by Mr. Brener, the Town
Supervisor was authorized to purchase 'a signal light not to
exceed $300 in cash.
Upon motion of Mr. Rawls, seconded by Mr. Bremer, the Town
Supervisor was authorized to use Town labor as far as possible
and make installation o f a Traffic Light at Sherry Drive and
Atlantic Blvd. , cost not to exceed yp300 for this work.
The Mayor asked that more rigid enforcement of the law relating
garbage collection. The Town_ Supervisor to send out letters
calling attention to the law and the Marshal to enforce it.
Upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by Mr. Iiason, the meeting
adjourned from day to day.
