Mr. Mason advised that he had a visitor on Saturday
afternoon the 13th of August , and this visitor wanted
him to use his good judgement in selecting a Town Sup-
ervisor and told him not to forget that there was ane
gentleman that had he (Mason) acooss the barrel. The
visitor produced an affidavit dated November 29, 194$
stating that a Town truck with Town Labor had moved
Mr. Mason from the big house into the little house that
morning. Mr. Mason was in Miami at that time, and knew
nothing about it. However, he advised the visitor that
his wife was out front in a car and they would go out and
see what she knew about it . Mrs. Mason advised that she
had two beds to move and asked the Town men about moving
them when they came by collecting garbage and they advised
that they could not do it then, but that they would come
back on their lunch hour and do it for her, which they
did and were only about 20 minutes moving the beds, and
she paid them and they left. Mr. Mason went to see the
driver of the Town truck who told him the same as Mrs.
Mason had . Mr. Mason said that the person asked him to
to ar up the affidavit and that he would tear up some others
that he had. The person later phoned Mr. Mason to see if he
had torn up the affidavit , and Mr. Mason advised that he had
and expected him to do the same . Mr. Mason wanted the
Council to know the facts , and called in Robert Stewart, Or.
whornwas the dyer of the truck. Robert told the Council
the same as stated above by Mr. Mason, and he was then ex-
cused. The question arose as to whether he thought it was
a member of the official body instigating it, or was it
someone trying to influence his vote? He said he did not
know but would like to , but that he did want the Council
to know the facts.
The Council next considered the applications which had
been received for the Town Supervisor's place. They were
discussed and studied at length. The question to be decided
is whether want a good engineering man , or a good all round
man.
Mr. Mason stated that he was for Mr. Rawls .
Mr. Ganzel advised that he thinks we will make a serious
mistake if don't pick a good engineer with all the work we
have ahead to do. However , if can't afford a good engineer,
then he would be for the best all round man.
There was further discussion, and upon motion of Mr. Bre'
seconded by Mr. Kirby the Town Clerk was instructed to invite
those that were discussed to meet with the Council for inter-
views at 7:30 P.M. and 9 P.M. on Friday, August 19th, 1949.
Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Bremer, Mr. Dick
Hamilton was chosen as Tax Assessor for the year 1949, subject
to confirmati on at regular mee ting.
Mr. Rosborough advised that a meeting was being held at the
Neptune Beach Town Hall, Tuesday Evening 16th relative to
setting up a Seawall District .
Upon motion of Mr. Bremer the meeting adjourned
