11-01-49 v MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN COUNCIL HELD ATBTHE TORN HALL ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1, - 1949 AT $ P.M. 411 Present : F .P. Ganzel J.P. Mason D.W. Bremer R.S. Thames, Councilmen and G.L. Rosborough, Mayor R.M. Panton, Town Manager Adele S. Grage, Town Clerk The Council carefully considered and studied the complaints received on assessments listed on the 1949 Tax Roll and took action as follows: Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Mason assessment on Debell property property Lot 16 and W2-14, Block 5 to remain same as shown on Preliminary Roll. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Hr. Bremer the assess- ment on P.S. Clarson, Lots 5,6, pt . of 7, Block 35 to be re- 411 duced to X20,000. Upon motion of Er. Eason, seconded by Mr. Bremer the assess- ment on Rawls property, Lot 5, Block 30 to remain same as on Preliminary 3011. Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Mason the assess- ment against Mr. Hornets property known as the unplated strip lying west of Blocks 1,2 ,3 , & 4 was reduced to . 13 ,000. Upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by Mr. Thames the assess- ments on Mr. Hornets lots in Block 2 and s2 of Block 3 , fac- ing on Ahern and First Sts. were reduced by 50. (except the corners) . The Tax Assessor recommended that the Burroughs Property, Lots 7 ,•9 , Block 16 be reduced to $13 ,250. total, and upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mt. Thames this recommenda- tion was accepted. There was no report ready on the Bull property, and after a discussion of the assessments, it was referred to Mr. Hamilton for his recommendations at the next meeting. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Bremer, it was decided that a letter be written to go with the statements where taxes are past due for years 1947 amd 194$ asking for payment and explaining need for costs of operation, and after certain time those remaining unpaid are to be certified to the Attorney for disposal and sale if necessary. Upon motion of Mb. Thames, seconded by Mr. Mason, authority was given for Mr. Russell to sell the motorcycle, using own discretion. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Bremer, the tentative budget for 1949-50 was passed subject to corrections and adjust- ments .. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Bremer approval was given for a letter to be written to Mr. Richard Sutton relative to providing maintenance service of one traffic light . I ! Mr. Leroy Johnson recommended that something be done to put the water tank in good shape. The matter was referred to Ir. Panton to get prices. Mr. Panton recommended that new office furniture be purchased from Perdue Office Equipment Co. , as their prices are lowest. Upon motion of Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Bremer the recommen- dation of Mr. Panton was accepted and approval given for the • purchase of this furniture. Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Mason, a Resolu- tion is to be drawn up declaring December 17th, 1949 as "Americanization Daytt.
