COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14th, 1949

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Ganzel,
who called for the reading of minytes.
Upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by Mr. Thames the minutes
of the regular meeting of October 10, 1949 were approved as
read.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Bremer, the minutes
of the adjourned meeting of October 13th, 1949 were approved
as read.

The minutes of the adjourned meeting of October 21, 1949 were
approved as read upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr.
Bremer.
Minutes of the adjourned meeting of October 24, 1949 were
approved as read upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by Mr.
Thames.
Upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by Mr. Thames the minutes
of the adjourned meeting of November 1, 1949 were approved
as read.
Mr . Ganzel recognized visitors present. Mr. Keinath requested
information as to the sidewalk to the postoffice. Mr. Ganzel
referred the question to Mr. Thompson who advised that the space
where the sidwalk will be built is outside the town and that
the Act of Legislature bringing it within the Town limits
calls for a referendum election in line with the General Laws
of the State. Mr. Thompson has not been able to date to find
the provision, and does not know how to hold the e ; ection and
All until that is ironed out, cannot go further. The Council will
await further information from Mr. Thompson before taking action.
Mr. Harcourt Bull requested that the matter of a street light on
Saltair Boulevard at Seaspray be considered. There was a dis-
cussion and the matter was referred to Mr. LeRoy Johnson to inves-
tigate and make recommendation.
The Tax Roll for 1949 was next considered. Mr. Hamilton recommended
in regard to the Bull properties, that the changes as listed on
tabulated lists be made, and that relative lots be equalized.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mrr. Bremer the recommenda-
tion of the Tax Assessor was accepted and approved.
The Tax Aseessor recommended that on Lots $55 thru $5$, Frank
Keinath owner, the assessment be reduced by $1000. , leaving the
assessment at $8000. for 1949. Upon motion of Mr. Thames, sec-
onded by Mr. Bremer the receommendatio } was accepted and approved.
Upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by Mr. Thames , the Town Clerk
was authorized to redeem 2 seawall bonds.

Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Bremer approval was
given for the borrowing of : 1000. from the Beach Bank for 60 days ,
with the usual Resolution and signatures.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Bremer , it was decided to
give Massey Motors a 60 day note for the dump truck. Mr. Panton
to handle, with the usual Resolution a.nA. signatures.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Bremer the following

Ordinance # 130 entitled " An Ordinance to approve and adopt
the Tax Assessment Roll for 1949, and to determine and fix
the rate of taxation and make the annual tax levy for the
year 1949" was read by the Town Clerk, and upon motion of
Mr. Bremer, seconded by Mr. Tnames, it was passed on third
and final reading. The millage was set at 15 mills for
General purposes and 1 mill for Town's share Seawall.
Upon motion of Mr. Bremer, seconded by MrThames the
Treasurer's reaport was approved with balances as follows :

The matter of bill received from Dr. Van Schaick for back
filling done by McCormick was again discussed and the Clerk
was directed to write Dr. Van Schaick requesting that he send
copy of authority for work, as limy will have to have before
can consider further.
Upon motion of Mr. Thames, seconded by Mr. Bremer the 4%
discount on 1949 taxes was extended thru December 31, 1949
due to the latness of passing the Tax Roll.

Mr. Harcourt Bull advised that he had been advised that the
County had taken over the responisbility of the two traffic
lights, and had set up the maintenance for same in their
budget . Council requested Mr. Panton to write Mr. Acosta
and find out if same is in the County budget, in order
that we may amend our budget on this item if it is,
It was advised that the County has already called for bids,
and is ready to let the work on the Ocean Blvd. from 7th St.
to Town Limits, joining up with the Seminole Beach Rd.
Upon motion of Mr. Bremer the meeting adjourned from day
to day.
