Upon motion of Beale Travis ,seconded by E. L. Jones the
following Resolution covering dedication of Hotel Res-
ervation Road was passed:
WHEREAS , JULIET H. ADAMS , a widow, E. G. ADAMS and
LAURIE C. ADATVS , his wife , and W. H. ADAMS and FLORENCE y
B. ADAMS , his wife , have tendered to the Town of Atlantic
Beach, Florida, a municipal corporation, a deed dated
July 27, 1946, duly executed and acknowledged by them,
granting to said Town, subject to the conditions there-
in stated, for use as a public street or highway the
lands situate in said Town and particularly described
as :
That certain strip or parcel of land 27 ft . in
width and being 10 ft . West of, and 17 ft . East
of , and parallel to a survey line in, and through
that block shown as "Hotel Reservation" on map of
Atlantic Beach, recorded in plat book 5-page 69
of the current public records of Duval County,
Florida, said survey line being more particularly
described as : beginning at a point in the center
line of Ocean Boulevard, as shown on said map of
Atlantic Beach South 6 degrees 3$ minutes East a
distance of 7.4$ ft . from its intersection with
the South line of 7th street as shown on said
map of Atlantic Beach; Thence Northerly on a curve
to the left having a radius of 2$7.93 ft. a dis-
tance of 142.5$ ft . ; Thence North 35 degrees 09
minutes West a distance of 57.47 ft . ; Thence on a
curve to the right having a radius of 240.49 ft .
a distance of 117.99 ft. ; Thence North 6 degrees
50 minutes West a distance of 672 .34 ft . ; Thence
on a curve to the right having a radius of 240.49
ft . a distance of 122.43 ft . ; Thence North 22 de-
grees 34 minutes East a distance of 79.22 ft . ;
Thence on a curve to the left having a radius of
240.49 ft . a distance of 121.60 ft.
AND WHEREAS , one of the conditions of said grant
and dedication contained in said deed is that the grantee
will within six (6) months after said date thereof
accept said grant and dedication by official action in
accordance with the requirements of the charter of said
Town;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and
Town Council of said Town of Atlantic Beach, that the
said Town does hereby accept said grant and dedication,
but upon the express understanding with the said grantors
that nothing in said deed contained shall ever be con-
strued or deemed to in any wise preclude said Town from
411 the levying, in accordance with ite charter powers , as
is now or hereafter provided, of a special assessment or
assessments to defray the cost of the construction of a
roadway over and upon said land or for otherwise improv-
ing the same, against any property abutting upon said
lands so granted and dedicated, except such part of the
abhtting land as lies between the said lands described
in said deed and the tract of land owned by said Town
and upon which or a portion of which its Town Hall is
now situate. 111
Upon motion of E. L. Jones , seconded by Beale Travis
the following Resolution covering repaving of Hotel
Reservation Road was passed:
WHEREAS , the Town of Atlantic Beach, Duval County,
Florida, now holds a deed to that certain strip of land
known as the Hotel Reservation Road, lying on the west-
erly boundary of the Hotel .Reservation, extending from
the northerly line of Seventh Street at the south and
the southerly line of Tenth Street on the north, and
fully described in said dedication, and
WHEREAS , it has been found by the Board of Appraisers
duly appointed to investigate into and make a finding
(1 ) as to the necessity for paving, repaving, and
hard suz'facing the said road;
(2 ) the benefits accruing to the owners of lots,
plats and parcels of land immediately abbutting the
said road ; by virtue of the said contemplated paving,
repaving and hard surfacing of the said road;
( 3) the benefits accruing to the public in general
by virtue of said paving, repaving and hard surfacing
the said road, and
(4) report their findings to the Town Council of
the said Town;
That the said Road requires at this time a complete
repaving, paving and hard surfacing, and ;
WHEREAS , the said Town Council has found that there
is a need for paving, repaving and hard surfacing street
improvement program as of this date on the said Hotel
Reservation Road,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Mayor and
Town Council of the said Town that there is a need for
the said paving, repaving and hard surfacing of the
said Hotel Reservation Road, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the said improvement
program be put under way as seon as possible and for
the purpose of securing bids for such construction,
that the Town Supervisor be and he is hereby ordered
and directed to advertise for bids for said construct-
• ion in accordance with plans and specifications on file
in the office of the Town Supervisor, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in accordance with
Section 37 of Chapter 13907, Special Acts of 1929, as
amended, that such work contemplated under and in pur-
suance with this resolution, be paid for by special
assessment against abutting, adjoining, contiguous or
other specially benefited property and by public funds,
such proportionate payments to be made as may be deter-
mined when the work has been completed and such assess-
ments be legally set up in accordance with the law
governing such mattersUP
Upon motion of E. L. Chiasson, seconded by E. L. Jones
the amount to be paid the election officials was set
as $7.

An Ordinance "Providing for the Opening as a Street the
Tract of Land granted by Juliette Adams , E. G. Adams and C
Wife Laurie C. , and W. H. Adams , Jr. and wife Florence V. ,
to the Town on July 27th, 1946" , was passed on 1st read-
ing upon motion of E. L. Chiasson, seconded by E. L. Jones .
It was passed on 2nd reading upon motion of E. L. Chias:son,
seconded by Beale Travis.
C. R. Frazier was instructed to advertise for bids. As
to the specifications Mr. Frazier is to get up further
specifications for the road to present to the new Council
for approval.
Mr. Jacobs advised that he believes he can secure the
fire plug, and will also have same installed.
The matter of donation towards Neptune Vol. Fire Dept.
truck was discussed and although they feel the Town
should do something, they felt action should be taken
by the new Council.
Upon motion of E. L. Chiasson the meeting adjourned.
