TOWN HALL SRPTEMBER 2?, 1943 AT 8 P. M.

Upon motion of Mr. Cranford, seconded by Mr.Jacobs , an ordinance
entitled "AN ORDINANCE To Approve And Adopt The Tax Assessment Roll
For The Year 1943 , And To Determine And Fix The Rate Of Taxation And
Make The Annual Tax Levy Of The Year 1943: ", was unanimously pdssdd'°on
third and final reading.
The Town Treasurer submitted his report for the month of August,
and upon motion of Mr. Cranford, seconded by Mr. Chiasson, was approved
and ordered filed.
A considerable discussion was had in reference to the police
radio service , and particularly in reference to the proposed contract
submitted to the Town by the city attorney of Jacksonville Beach.
This matter was referred to Mr. Travis , the Chairman of the Police
committee,and the Clerk was directed to communicate with the city
officials of Jacksonville Beach and arrange a conference with Jackson-
ville Beach authorities and Mr. Travis. The matter was passed for
further consideration at the next regular merting.
The question of imposing a garbage collection fee in the Town
of Atlantic Bach was thoroughly discussed. The Town attorney sub-
mitted a later to the City Supervisor covering several questions
involved pending further study , the matter was passed.
upon motion of Mr. Travis , seconded by Mr. Chiasson, the foll-
owing resolution was unanimously adopted:
RESOLUTION DIRECTING CANCELLATION OF CERTAIN "TOWN OF ATL ?NTIC BEACH
SEAWALL BONDS" , ISSUE OF OCTOBER 1 , 1943.
WHEREAS, the Town of Atlantic Beach, Duval County , Florida ,
re purchase4from Leedy, Wheeler and Company, investment
bankers, of Orlando, Florida , "Town of Atlantic Beach Seawall Bonds" ,
issue of October 1 , 1943 , numbered 90, 91 , 92 , 93. 94, 95, and 96,
each bond being in the face amount of une Thousand ( $1000.00) Dollars ,
and maturing October 1 , 1946 , and each bond containing 7 interest
coupons of Twenty ($20.00) Dollars each, said coupons on each bond
maturing , respectively, uctober 1 , 1943, ApriLl , 1944 , October 1 , 1944,
April 1 , 1945, October 1 , 1945 , April 1 , 1946, and October 1 , 1946 ,
WHEREAS, the said Town of Atlantic Beach now holds the paid
draft drawn by & id Leedy, Mheeler and Company upon The Atlantic
National Bank of Jacksonville , Florida (Town of Atlantic Beach account)
dated September 7 , 1943; and in the face amount of $7430.97; said draft
representing the redemption Price of sL: id bonds and coupons; and
NHEREAS, it is now desirable to cancel each of said bonds and
said coupons , presently in the possession of the Town Treasurer of
the said Town,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE •
TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, DUVAL BOUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1. Mr. C. R. Frazier, TOWN CLERK of the said Town, and CITY
SUPERVISOR of said Town, is hereby authorized and directed, in his
0capacity both as sold Clerk and as said City Supervosor, to forth-
with (a) plainly write , in ink, the word "Cancelled" across the face
of each of said bonds and of each of said coupons, and then kb) burn
or otherwise com,letely and effectually destroy the same; and
2. The said C. R. Frazier, TOWN CLERK and CITY SUP?RVISOR;
as aforesaid, is also hereby directed to promptly report to the TOWN
COUNCIL of said ATLANTIC BEACH, in writing, his actions done and per-
formed in and about the cancdllation of said bonds and coupons as
hereinabove authorized end commanded.
There being no further business , the eetVe was adjourned.
