COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL AT 8 P. M. May 19, 1942.

As per the following notice the regular monthly meeting
scheduled for May 12, 1942 was postponed until May 19th.
•NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
"You, and each of you, me hereby notified that the regular
monthly meeting of the Atlantic Beach Town Council has been
postponed from May 12, 1942 to 8 o'clock P. M. May 19, 1942.
The meeting of May 19, 1942 will be held for the purpose of
considering all matters which would have been otherwise
considered at the regular monthly meeting on the 12th. You
will govern yourself accordingly.

Rosborough were also present.
The meeting was called to order by Mr. E. L. Chiasson,
Vice President, 'WIllh upon motion of Mr. Cranford seconded by
Mr. Allen, the minutes of the regular monthly meeting of April
14, 1942 were approved as read.
Mr. Cranford, the Town Treasurer, submitted his usual
monthly financial report, which, upon motion of Mr. Allen was
approved and ordered filed.
Upon motion of Mr. Allen, seconded by Mr. Cranford the
following bills were approved and ordered paid.

Considerable discussion was had in reference to taxes and
assessements on the property of R. E. Sugg. This matter was passed
to the next regular meeting.
The Town Attorney explained in detail in reference to the
suit against W. H. Adams, et al. He explained that the 1938 and
1939 tax suit could be disposed of except that Mr. Adam' s attorney
contends that no penalty interest should be hdded on the untendered
balance , that is , the difference between the amount tendered through
Court by Mr. Adams and that which the judgment was rendered, and in
ilk this connection, the Town Attorney was told to settle all tax matters
without the collection of penalty interest.
The Town Attorney also explained that Mr. Adam' s attorney
insisted upon partial payment by the Town for the special Master' s
fee in the Seawall case . By unanimous consent the Town Attorney
was authorized to settled the suit upon payment by the Town of
fifty per cent (50%) of the special master' s cost.
Mr. James A. Cranford verbally tendered his resignation as 410
Town Treasurer. His resignation was accepted end thereupon Mr.
Cranford nominated Mr. Orville Vickers as Town Treasurer. Mr.
Vickers was unanimously elected as Treasurer.0 ,n
Upon motion of Mr. Cranford, seconded by Mr. Allen, the
following resolution was unanimously adopted.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, James A. Cranford has resigned as Town Treasurer
of the Town of Atlantic Beach, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Orville Vickers has been duly elected by the
Town Council as Town Treasurer
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Atlantic National
Bank of Florida be continUed and is hereby designated as the
depository for all funds collected and held by the Town of Atlantic
Beach and that such funds are subject to withdrawal only upon the
• Treasurer ' s check signed by Mr. Orville Vickers , Treasurer, when

accompanea by a Town Warrant duly signed by the ,Town Clerk and
countersigned by one of the officials of the Town authorized to
sign such Warrants.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all such Warrants drawn upon
the Town by the Treasurer shall be signed by C. R. Frazier, Town
Clerk and countersigned by Henry G. Isaacs, President of the Town
Council or E. L. Chiasson, Vice President.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this
resolution bearing the true and correct signatures of all the above
named officers be filed with the Atlantic National Bank of Florida.
The City Supervisor raised the question of Police Radio
service through the Police radio at Jacksonville Beach. He explained
that JacksonvillenBeach made the proposition that the Town of Atlantic
Beach pay $40.00 per month for this service. The Town, of course,
would have to install its own radio in the car but any future
maintenance on the set would be taken care of by Jacksonville Beach,
except, 'of course , actual replacements. This matter wasthoroughly
discussed but unanimously rejected by the Town Council upon the
grounds no provision was made in the budget for this amount of
expenditure per month for this purpose. Upon motion of Mr. Cranford
seconded by Mr. Allen, the matter was tabled for the time being.
Upon mdtion of Mr. Allen, seconded by Mr. Cranford, the
City Supervisor was directed to have the Mageneta 'phone from the
top of the Atlantic Beach Hotel to the Town Hell discontinued.
The matter of garbage collection outside of the Town of
Atlantic Beach was discussed. There being no representative outside
the Town of Atlantic Beach the matter was passed.
The- Mayor raised the question of payment of incinerator accounts
and after some discussion this matter was passed o the next meeting.
