09-27-38 v MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL AT 8;00 O'CLOCK P. M. SEPTEMBER 27th. 1938: Present: E. L. Chiasson J . C. Outler G. L. Rosborough R. B. Sugg Thomas W. Trout Mayor George H. Smith was ellso present. The meeting was called to order by E. L. Chiasson, President. By unanimous consent, the minutes of prior meetings were passed for reading to the October Regular Metting. Upon motion of Mr. Trout, seconded by Mr. Cutler, the check being held by the Town Clerk, submitted by J. Alvin Register, in payment of his 1937 taxes, was ordered accepted in payment of regular tax and Town 's Share of Seawall , the interest oh account of delinquency, having been omitted , and that the interest be set up as a lien against the propertywes directed. Mr. Outler made inquiry relative to the Town 's application to R. F. C. for the sale of the Town's bonds. Mayor Smith advised that letters had been addressed to senator Fepper, congressman Green and William Ristig, Attorney, relative to this matter , letters dated September 26th. upon motion of Mr. Cutler, seconded by Mr. Trout, unanimously passed, the meeting adjourned to sit as an Bqualization board to hear complaints of tax payers relative to the 1938 assessment roll . 45111,smir-miWO P.aident. Rosborough Thos. N. Trout R. E. Sugg The meeting was called to order by H. L. Chiasson, President, and the chair was immediately relinquished to Mr. Thos. r'V. Trout , Chairman of the Taxation and Finance Cor^rri ttee , who acted as chairman of the Board. The following written complaints were received , taken under advisement and decision of the Board to be announced later; J. 0 . Todd Peter Jensen Mandalay Co. , W. H. Adams, Jr. Neptune Land Co. Carl F . Crawford Harcourt Bull Chalmers D. Horne A letter signed by Col. Gilbert A . Youngberg, touching; on assessments in general in Atlantic Beach was ordered received and filed for information. The following persons were heard in person and were heard by the Board. Their pleas were considered by the Board end decision was dferred to a later date. Fred T . Mullikin and George Milam, on behalf of the Neptune Land Co. Mrs. S. F. Williams in reference to arse so ent on improvements on Lots 5 and 6 , Block 20. T. E. Satchwell , generally on lots in Mandalay Sub-Division. Harcourt Bull , Jr. , generally in reference to lots owned by the Atlantic Beach eOlding Co. , et al , in Atlantic Beach proper. W. H. Adams, Jr. , in behalf of the motel co. , Geo. ti. Pritchard, in reference to property west of Meyport Road. Mr. Pritchard withdrew his complaint and the assessment was left as set. There was a general discussion held relative to assessments, in which all of the above participated. Mr. P...A`:. Burrou?hs also joined in the discussion. By consent of all , the City Supervisor was directed to prepare date for comparison purposes in such form as to 41/ be readily available in respect to all the property complained of and to submit same to a meeting called for Sept. 29. 1938.
