01-05-37 v REGULA`. MEETING OF TOWN COUNCIL OF ATLANTIC BEACH, HELD TUESDAY, JANUARY 5th, 1937, AT EIGHT O' CLOCK, P. M. PRESENT:- J. C. Outler, C. C. Howell, G . L. Rosborough. Geo. H. Smith, Mayor, also was present . The meeting eas called to order by Mr. J. C. Cutler, President. The Clerk read the minutes of the meeting of December, 15th, which were approved as read. Upon motion of Mr. Rosborough, seconded by Mr. Howell, put and carried, the following bills were approved and authorized paid. Howell, Jr. , Atty. For professional services 25.00_ 7. 2 The Clerk read a letter from Col. Gilbert A. Youngberg, in which he stated that Mr. Freeman of the Public '„orks Adminis- tration offices, has requested, that in view of the latest develop- ments on the waterworks, the application to the PWA for funds from this source, be withdrawn. Upon conclusion of the reading, the Clerk was instructed to write Col. Youngberg to the effect that the Town Council is in process of negotiating for the waterworks, but the plan is in such a status at the moment that the Countil does not think it feasible to withdraw officially, it' s application, Just as soon as definite action has been determined, one way or the other, the Council will take proper formal action. An ordinance providing for the Payment by Property Own- ers, of Attorney' s fees for collecting without suit, unpaid Taxes or Assessments, was read a third time in full, and, upon motion put, seconded and carried, said Ordinance was passed upon it ' s third reading. The Clerk presented a bill from the former Town Atty. , Mr. Harvey Mabry, as follows :- . Bulkhead ollows :- Bulkhead collections 50.00 Zoning Ordinance and election of Ordinance and general Town election 200.00 Final settlement on Bulkhead allotim nbt, . includ- ing accounting, drafts and other profes- sional services in this behalf 450.00 700.00 Upon conclusion of the reading, the Chair requested that Mr. C. C. Howell, Sr. , in as much as he had previously had conver- sations with Er. Mabry in regard to part of this bill, viz, the $200. item, write him in regard to the entire bill, and stated that the matter would again be brought up at the next meeting, when it was hoped that a full membership would be present. A motion was made by Mr. Rosborough, seconded by Mr. Howell, put and carried, that Mr. C. R. Frazier, be retained for the bal- ance of the month of January, at the same compensation, ?15.00 per week. Nr. Rosborough made a motion, seconded by Mr. Howell, put and carried, that the salary of the marshal for the month of Jan- uary, be . 115.00, the amount of said salary to be designated from month to month. A motion was made by Mr. Rosborough, seconded by Mr. How- ell, put and carried that, upon application, a license be issued to Mr. Vonna, without further cost, for period June 30, 1936, to June 30th, 1937. A motion was made by Mr. Rosborough, seconded by Ivir. Howell, put and carried, that the Clerk be authorized to draw voucher for motor vehicle licenses (Two trucks and one motor cycle) as soon as amount due for same is ascertained.. Upon motion of Mr. Rosborough, seconded by Mr. Howell, put and carried, Mr. Geo. H. Smith was asked to make out the proper schedule for numbering the houses in Atlantic Beach and after com- pletion, to leave same with Town Clerk to be placed on file in order that residents may secure their proper numbers with a view to obtaining same for placing on their houses. Ivir. Osborne . Treasurer, made his usual financial report and also presented a certified statement of bank balances, all of which were ordered placed on file.
