06-03-35 v REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF ATLANTIC BEACH,- FLORIDA, HELD JUNE 3rd, 1935, AT EIGHT O' CLOCK, P . M. AT THE TOWN HALL. PRESENT:- Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr., J. M. Bradfield, Jas. D. Palmer, E. H. Thompson, and - Harvey Liabry, Atty. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr. , President. The minutes of the meeting of May 6th, were read by the Clerk, and approved as read. Upon motion of Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Palmer, put and carried, the following bills were approved and authorized paid: The Pettibone Bros. Mfg. Co., 1 cap for marshal. . . $ 2.72 S. B. Eng. - Telephone calls Re-Seawall Same to be transferred to Towns fund out of which it was paid. . 2.20 Hills & Youngberg Engs. $1600.00 A motion was made by Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr, Palmer, put and carried, that Gilbert A. Youngberg, Consulting Engineer, be advanced one hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00) for which he is authorized to make survey of waterworks situation a nd prepare preliminary plans and specifications and make application to and request of the PWA, a loan and grant for installing water works in Atlantic Beach, said one hundred and fifty dollars 0150.) to be deducted from the eventual fee agreed upon for his services. It is understood that if the loan and grant is not obtained, no fee will be charged, except actual out of pocket money. The matter of summer policing of the beach, having come up for discussion and it being pointed out that the beach had increased in summer population, the question arose as to the aparent advisabil- ity of having the police duty comprise a full time job with officer in uniform. Thereupon a motion was made by Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Palmer, put and carried, that this matter be referred to the Police Committee, for investigation and recommendation. A motion was made by Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Palmer, put and carried, that sand be taken from mound on 16th St . for use in filling in rear of seawall. A motion was made by Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Palmer, put and carried. that Ordinance establishing a safety zone, which was passed on 1st and 2nd reading at meeting of May 6th, be passed on 3rd reading. The Clerk having read a petition, signed by residents of 6th St., between East Coast Drive and Old Sherry Drive, asking that the first part of this area, upon which houses are located, be given a suitable finish to eliminate the clouds of dust ocas- ionedby the original finish having completely worn off, leaving the crished shell exposed and likewise to safegarc3_ against deep holes being worn in the street, a motion was made by Mr. Palmer, seconded by Mr. Thompson, put and carried, that Mr. Thompson, Chairman of the Public Works Committee, be authorized to have this work done, provided it does not cost in excess of $25.00. The treasurer, Mr. Osborne, made his usual financial re- port, which was ordered filed and also submitted a certified state- ment as to bank b'lance, which is in words and figures as follows:- Jacksonville, Florida, June 1st, 1935 Chairman Finance Committee, Town of Atlantic Beach, Atlantic Beach, Fla.
