08-14-34 v SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, HELD AUGUST 14, 1934, AT THE TOWN HALL AT 8 O' CLOCK, P. P.I. PRESENT:- Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr. , J. M. Bradfield, Geo. B. Stallings, Jas. D. Palmer, E. H. Thompson. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Thompson, Chair- man, pro tem, as Mr. Tucker was late. Mr. Bradfield offered the following Resolution, second- ed by Mr. Palmer, put and unanimously carried. - R E S 0 L U T I 0 I - WHEREAS, the Inspectors and the Clerk of the General Election, held in Atlantic Beach, on August 14, A. D. 1934, for the purpose of electing a mayor and five councilmen, canvassed the votes cast, and did make due returns of the same in words and figures as follows: CERTIFICATE OF RESULT OF GENERAL ELECTION OF THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH, HELD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 14th, 1934, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR AND FIVE COUNCILMEN . TO THE TOWN COUNCIL OF ATLANTIC BEACH, Iri DUVAL COUNTY, FLORIDA: Vie the undersigned, being the inspectors and the Clerk appointed to conduct Genera 1 Election in the Town of Atlantic Beach, on Tuesday, August 14, 1934, for the pprpose of electing a Mayor and five Councilmen, hereby certify that we conducted said election on sa id date, and countedthe ballots cast for and against the candidates whose names are printed on the ballots and find the results to be as follows: The number of qualified voters, according to the Registration Books, rJAS 69 The number of such qualified voters who partici- pated in sa id election, and who cast ballots in said election, WAS 36 The number of ballots cast for Robert E. Sugg, for Mayor, WAS , 36 The number of ballots cast for Lawrence K. Tuck- er, Jr., for Councilman, WAS, 36 The number of ballots cast for Jas. D. Williams, Clerk. and, WHEREAS, the Town Council of Atlantic Beach, upon the re- ceipt of said returns, did canvass the said returns, NOW, THERI!,FORE, be it resolved by the Town Council of the Town of Atlantic Beach, that the result of said election be and the same is hereby declared to be as follows: The number of qualified voters, according to the Reg- istration Books, WAS 69 The number of such qualified voters who participated in said election, and who cast ballots in said election, WAS 36 The number of ballots cast for Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr., for Councilman, WAS, - 36 The number of ballots cast for Jas. D. Palmer, for Councilman, WAS, 36 The number of ballots cast for George B. Stallings for Councilman WAS, 36 The number of ballots cast for J. E. Bradfield, for Councilman, WAS, - 36 The number of ballots cast for E. H. Thompson, for Councilman, WAS 36 Be it -further resolved, and, it s hereby found and de- termined by the Town : ou }cil of Atlantic Beach, acting in the capacity of a canvassing board, that a majority of the qualified voters, who participated in said Genera 1 Election, cast their votes in favor of the above candi- dates and it is further found and determined that the above named candidates are elected to serve for the next two years. ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF ATLANTIC BEACH, HELD AUGUST 14th AT 6-30 P. M. AT TON HALL. PRESENT:- Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr. J. M. Bradfield, Geo. B. Stallings, Jas. D. Palmer, E. H. Thompson. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr., President. Officers for the ensuing term were chosen as follows:- Upon motion of N . Stallings, seconded by ,Mr. Thompson, put and carried, Mr. Jas. D. Palmer, was elected President. Upon motion of Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Palmer, put and carried, Mr. E. H. Thompson was elected Vice President. Upon motion of Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Bradfield, put and carried, Miss E. J. Candee, was appointed Clerk. Upon motion of Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Palmer, put and carried, Mr. Y. V. Osborne, was appointed Treasurer. There being no further business for consideration, upon motion put and carried, the meeting adjourned until the second Monday in September, the first Monday being Labor Day.
