06-26-33 v A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOVdT COUNCIL OF ATLANTIC BEACH, JUNE 26, 1933, HELD AT THE TOWN HALL AT 5-45, P.M. PRESENT:— Lawrence RESENT:-Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr., J. E. Bradfield, E. H. Thompson. The meeting Was called to order by Mr. Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr., Chairman. The Clerk read the minutes of the meeting of June 19th, which were approved as read. An Ordinance for Defraying Expense of Seawall, which was introduced by Mr. Bradfield, and read andpassed on the first reading by title only, at the meeting of June 19th, was upon motion of Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Thompson, put and car- ried, passed on second and third reading, at this meeting. An OrdinanifligRgulating The Duties, Fees ETC. of THE MUNICIPAL JUDGE, was introduced by Mr. Stallings and read and passed on the first reading by title only, at the meeting of June 19th, was upon notion of Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Bradfield, put and carried, passed on second and third reading, at this meeting. An Ordinance Fixing The Amounts To be Paid for City Licenses, which was introduced by Mr. Bradfield, and read and passed on the first reading by title only at the meeting of June 19th, was upon motion of Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Thompson, put andcarried, passed on second and third read- ing at this meeting. The following resolution was presented by Kr. Brad- field, who made motion that it be adopted, which was seconded by Mr. Thompson, put and unanimously carried. ,. RESOLUTION •, WHEREAS, under Section two hundred four of the In- dustrial Recovery Act. , the Federal Government has apportion- ed four hundred million dollars (.400,000,000) of the funds available under this Act for road and highway construction, Florida' s allotment being five millinm two hundred thirty one thousand dollars ($5,231,000) , the money to be immediate- ly available and to be a one hundred percent grant to States and political sub-divisions which have projects qualifying under this provision, and V:HE' EAS, under sub paragraph two of this Section, expenditures include emergency construction on secondary or feeder roads to State Highways, subject to the approval of State Highway Department and the Secretary of Agriculture and, provided the State or political sub-division will be responsible for the proper maintenance of .said Road, and 7HEREAS, the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida is contiguous to State Road number seventy-eight; has no feed- er to this Road and no improved road thru the Town; is suf- ficiently built up to warrant an improved Road, and is bad- ly in need of one, on account of it' s congested traffic conditions and lack of road facilities, BE IT RESOLVED, therefore, that the Town Council of Atlantic Beach, Florida, does hereby formally petition the State Highway Department to include the cost of improving Continantal Avenue, a thru road running North and South thru the Town of Atlantic Beach, Florida, an approximate distance of six thous- and feet (6,000' ) within the limits of the town, in it' s High- way and Road projects to be submittedto the Federal Govern- ment, and to make it a feeder or extension of State Highway, number seventy-eight. BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, That a copy of. this Resolution be sent to the Duval County Commissioners as a request that this project be made a part of the County+ s program for road construction or improvements under this Act.
