The meeting• was called to order by Mr. Lawrence K.
Tucker, Jr. , Chairman
The Clerk read the minutes of the meeting of October 2nd,
which were approved as read.
Upon motion of Mr. Palmer, seconded by Mr. Thompson, put
and carried, the following bills wel approved:-

Upon motion of Mr. Palmer, seconded by Er. Thompson, put
and carried, it was voted to leave the selection of the police of-
ficer to the discretion of Mayor Robert E. Sugg, with the assurance
that such selection would meet with the approval of the Council.
Upon motion of Mr. Palmer, seconded by Mr. Thompson, put
and carried, the• Clerk was instructed to make out warrant in favor
of H. L. Walters, late marshal, for $30.00 being balance of months
salary, Oct . 15 to Nov. 1, said warrant to be turned over to
Mayor Sugg for delivery to him.
Mr. Thompson as chairman of the Public Works Covmittee,
reported that thirty-one loads of lime rock, (Two yards to the
load, at 50 a yard) had been purchased and placed on the streets
where most needed but advised that there were still many bad pla-
ces which needed attention. ':':'hereupon a notion was made by 1.r.
Palmer, seconded by Mr. Thomason, p ut and carried, that Mr. Thomp-
son be permitted to purchase requisite, additional lime rock, to
make necessary imlrovemenPs.
Judge F. W . Truex, being present in person, submitted the
following report, which upon motion put, seconded, and carried, was
approved as read:-

The Clerk having called the attention of the Council to the
need of heat, both for the Clerk' s office and Auditorium, a motion
was made by Mr. Palmer, seconded by MrA Thorppson, put and carried,
tl,.at Mr. Thompson be authorized to purchase an oil heater, which
would be adequate for this purpose.
The treasurer, Mr. K. V. Osborne, being out of the City,
The clerk read a letter from him, addressed to Mr. J. LI. Brad-
field, chairman of the Finance Committee. In anticipation of his
forced absense, Mr. Osborne enclosed with the letter, both his
regular monthly financial statement and also the comptroller of
the Florida Nat ' l. Bank' s certification as to the correct balance.
Uppn motion of Mr. Palmer, seconded by Mr. Thompson,
out and carried, a vote of thanks was extended to Yr. Osborne,
for his, thoughtfulness in this matter and the certified bank
balance, was orderedspread upon the minutes.,
