10-03-32 v REGULAR MEETING OF THE TO/N COUNCIL, OCTOBER 3, 1932, HELD AT R. E. SUGG'S STORE AT 8, O'CLOCK, P. M. PRESENT:- Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr., J. M . Bradfield, E. H. Thompson, Jas. D. Palmer. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lawrence K. Tucker, Jr. Chairman. The Clerk read the minutes of the meeting of Sept . 21st, which were approved as read . Upom motion of Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Bradfield, put and, unanimously carried, the following bills were ofdered paid :- H. & W. B. Sugg, gas and oil 4.43 $1B.99 The police officer, Mr. williams, having signified his need of certain articles necessary to the discharge of his du- ties, a motion was made by Mr . Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Pal- mer, that said officer be supplied with all necessary equipment. Motion put and unanimously carried. So ordered . The Clerk having called to the attention of the council, the courteous treatment and helpful assistance given by Mr. W. H. Arzms, Jr. , in re-establishing the records, a motion eas made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr . Palmer, put and unanimously carried , that the Clerk write Mr. Adams a letter of apprecia- tion fL . said service. A motion was made by Mr. Palmer, seconded by Mr. Brad- field, put and unanimously carried, that Mrs. P . M. Patrick, 011, widow of the late marshal, be given a warrant for fifty dollars, the balance of the marshal's Sept. salary, he having died the first part of the month. Also that Mrs. Patrick's request for further help be taken up for consideration at the next meeting. A motion was made by Mr. Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Thompson, put and unanimously carried that the new Assessment Toll be adopted , and that the Council meet as an Equalization Board , on Monday, October 17th, a notice of which meeting should be published in some newspaper for four onsecutive days, the first notice to be inserted at least ten days before the meet- ing. eet- ing. A motion was made by Mr . Bradfield, seconded by Mr. Thompson, put and unanimously carried , that Mr . E. P . Barwald, Tax Assessor be endowed with authority to purchase the necessary permanent Tax Roll books. Mr. J. M. Bradfield, as chairman of the Finances, Taxes and Budget Coirunittee, having presented for consideration a budget for the ensuing fiscal year, a motion was made by Mr . Thompson, seconded by Mr . Palmer, put and unanimously carried, that the budget be adopted as submitted, which is a follows :- • Atlantic Beach, Fla. September, 21, 1932 Mr. Lawrence Tucker, President, Town Council. Atlantic Beach, Florida. Dear air :- I would recommend the following budget of expendi- tures for the Town of atlantic Beach during the ensuing fiscal year :- Police Fund $ 1,200.00 Public Works 800.00 Improvements 600.00 Building 2,000.00 Books & aupplies 200.00 Truck, Gas, Oil, etc 1,200.f^ Salaries 500.00 General Fund 500.00 7,000.00 This Budget appears high on account of the necessity 4/0 of Including the total cost of reconstruction of the Town Hall, the purchase of a new truck and office equipment . A good por- tion of this cost of these items will be offset by insurance on . the destroyed property. After applying the insurance collected, the total Budget will amount to $5,200.00, in which there is an item of $1,000.00 to cover the additional cost of the re- construction of the Town Hall, bringing the actual operating expenses down to 04,200 .00.
