School Crossing Guards Personnel cont… 3 Contract with JFRD beginning in 1999 $1,022,318 for ABFD in 1998 First year of contract cost was $742,807 Savings of $279,511 3% increase each year Fire/Rescue Services 4 Seasonal April through September City of Jacksonville will contribute $164,762 for personnel and operating expenses per the Interlocal Agreement: FY 2013 personnel and operating expenses will be $198,251 Lifeguards 5 Commission’s number 3 priority identified in strategic planning Preliminary study completed by Police Department and presented in July Three years of accident history Comparison of other NE Fl jurisdictions Evaluation of intersections What has worked in other areas Engineering, Education and Enforcement Pedestrian/Bike Safety 6 Majority of all accidents occurred at intersections with State Routes FDOT Engineers completing evaluation of intersections and will submit results Officers have received training on strategic plan, are making stops and issuing warnings FDOT had a “kickoff” meeting for the statewide initiative No funds currently in the budget for engineering review of local roads, police overtime or intersection enhancements. Regional Training Funds – Allocated by JSO for the entire region to host classes at academy 4. All training in 2011-12 was funded by these two restricted accounts 5. No General Fund dollars budgeted in 2012-13 for police training Police Special Revenue Funds 9 Radio Communications Fund 1. Restricted funds from a surcharge on traffic citations 2. May be used for the following: A. Radio airtime B. Laptop airtime C. Other related emergency communications expenses 3. Seized money and other assets that have been used in the commission of a felony crime 2. Most common source is from drug cases 3. Revenue is very difficult to predict 4.
