Mike, January 7th, I visited the office and issued a courtesy notice for
Avesta to remove the four flag/pennants and temporary wooden sign with 2
days to correct by removal . Yesterday all the signage was still up. Next
step is to sent the owner a certified notice of violation. Just wanted to
make sure they don' t have permission for any of these items before I send

Please be advised, Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement has found your property referenced above
to be in violation of the City of Atlantic Beach, Code of Ordinances, Chapter 17, Signs, Permit
required and Section 17-42.—Prohibited signs and devices to wit:
VIOLATION
CITY OFATLANTIC CODE OF ORDINANCES
Section 17-61.—Permit Required
It shall be unlawful for any person to install, erect,place, alter or relocate any sign
without first obtaining a sign permit with payment of the required fee to the city. Sign permits
shall be required for any sign requiring a permit under Section 3108.0.3, Florida Building Code.
A sign permit shall not be issued prior to issuance of the appropriate business tax receipt as
required for the activity on the property for which the sign permit is sought, except as set forth in
section 17-299c) of this chapter. (Signage installed without proper permits as required)
Section 17-42.—Prohibited signs and devices.
The following signs and devices shall be prohibited within the City of Atlantic Beach. In
the case of any conflict with other provisions of this Code,the prohibitions set forth below shall
supersede such other conflicting provisions.

(10) Temporary signs, except as otherwise authorized herein.
(11) Pennants, ribbons, balloons, streamers, wind-operated devices and similar elements
that are intended to draw attention to a business or activity, either when used alone or
incorporated into a sign. (Pennants displayed on Atlantic Boulevard and Cornell Lane and
balloons)
This letter requests that application be submitted with to the City of Atlantic Beach,
Building Department to obtain a permit for the wooden sign including supporting
documents as required within five (5) days of receipt or remove the sign. Removal of all
pennants, balloons as outlined be removed upon receipt of this notice and call for an
inspection to verify compliance.
To avoid having this case be referred to the Code Enforcement Board, all listed violations on
this notice must be in compliance on or before the date established by Atlantic Beach Code
Enforcement. The Board may impose fines up to two hundred fifty ($250.00) per day for
continuing violations. Upon completing the corrective action(s) required, it is your responsibility
to contact Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement and arrange for an inspection to verify compliance.
It is our goal to enforce the codes and ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach and protect the
health, safety and welfare of the City, and accordingly, your cooperation in this matter is greatly
