In these cases, ICP will allow new R-22 outdoor units to be matched with an existing indoor coil that was manufactured no earlier than 1992. The existing indoor coil nominal capacity should be a straight match or one size larger than the new outdoor unit. It is highly recommended that the old indoor coil be fitted with an R-22 thermal expansion valve metering device to deliver the best possible efficiency and reliability from the mix-matched system. Coils with capillary tube expansion devices are not permitted.
