RE: THE OPENING OF THE CLOISTER'S SOUTH GATE
* KEEP THE GATE CLOSED - except for emergencies, city trucks, etc.!!!
* "IF" a traffic/parking consultant is to be hired, please have the study
done between April & September. These are the busiest months in
our neighborhood, traffic-wise.
* KEEP THE GATE CLOSED until the study has been completed and a
decision has been reached. Opening the gate prior to a final/legal
decision would be in violation of the city code.
* In the past, I supported Commissioner Stinson's solutions for
compromise: opening the south gate for entry only & ingress/egress
for the north gate. However, a northern entrance for the south gate will
unleash undue traffic onto 7th & 8th Streets. The corner of Beach Ave.
and 7th Street is a disaster already waiting to happen. Bicycles,
skateboards. pedestrians, cars driving the wrong way...all are visually
blocked at the blind corner of Beach & 7th!
* Likewise, an exit from the south gate unleashes problems with cars
heading into oncoming traffic and a blind corner.
