AGENDA 8 C TRAFFIC STUDY
1. Good evening Mayor,Commissioners, Mr. Lafiere,and new attorney
2. I am Meade Coplan, resident of the Cloister Condominium,at 10 10th street,Atlantic Beach
3. Alison Brown, President of our Association could not make the meeting tonight and has asked
me as Vice President of the Board to address the Commission on the Traffic Study request by
Commissioner Stinson
We would only like to suggest 3 things with regard to the study being requested:
1. That a professional Traffic Engineer be hired to oversee this the study as the problem is
complex and we feel needs direction from such a professional to work with the committee
or without a committee that Commissioner Stinsom has recommended.
2. That one of the traffic counters recommended in the AGENDA ITEM at the beginning of
the request: " traffic volumes ...including 10th street between the beach and Ocean Blvd" is
a good idea,but in the action item on this request on page 2,1)a.2,iv. It states that a counter
be placed between the beach access and Beach Ave.,which we think may be a typo, as the
area from the beach 'ae�es-add Ocean Blvd. covers the traffic feed to and from 10th to the
beach and Ocean blvd to and from the beach.We think that's what you meant to do.
3. We would like you to take into consideration that a study should include not only vehicular
traffic in the areas you are studying but also all pedestrian traffic which would include
bikers, baby strollers, surf boarders,roller bladders,tricycles, to get a better picture of the
safety concerns we all have for the entire area being studied....not to mention the parking
issues caused by beach visitors, and vendors.
