You indicated that you were 95% certain that you plan to withdraw and you wanted to know the process. According to Lana with the Duval County Supervisor of Elections Office, all that is needed is for you to put something in writing that you have decided to withdraw as a candidate for Mayor Seat 1. This can be as simple as an email. The other topic we spoke about was your petitions. You were reminded on Monday, Thursday and again today that you must file your petitions before the deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 (today) in order to have any chance of moving forward to qualifying. So far, I have not received them. Also, I reminded you that regardless of the outcome of those issues, you must file your Treasurer Report – M5 (covering May 1, 2017 through May 31, 2017) by the deadline which is Monday, June 12, 2017 by 5:00 p.m. to avoid paying a penalty. The Penalty for Late Filing can be found on page 54 of the Candidate and Campaign Treasurer Handbook which states the follow: “Any reporting individual who fails to file a report on the designated due date shall be subject to a fine of $50 per day for the first three days late and, thereafter, $500 per day for each late day, not to exceed 25 percent of the total receipts or expenditures, whichever is greater.” Thank you, Donna L.
