MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH CITY
COMMISSION HELD IN CITY HALL, 716 OCEAN BOULEVARD, ON MONDAY, MARCH 18,
1991, AT 7:15 PM
1. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gulliford. Present, in
addition to the Mayor, were Commissioners Cook, Edwards, Tucker and
Weldon. Also present were City Manager Leinbach and City Clerk King.
2. Action by the City Commission to award bid for Sound System for
Commission Chambers at New City Hall as advertised under Bid No.
9091-11
Commissioner Edwards reported bid packets were mailed to seven
prospective bidders. Two bids were received as follows:
Florida Sound of Jacksonville $9,584.00
Ancha Electronics of Tampa $12,471.00
After review of the bids the Awards Committee recommended that a
contract be awarded to Florida Sound for the installation of sound
equipment in the new City Hall. Commissioner Edwards moved to award the
contract to Florida Sound in the amount of $9,584.00. The motion was
seconded by Commissioner Cook and was unanimously approved.
3. Any other business:
Commissioner Cook inquired whether any plans had yet been made to
welcome the Saratoga home from the Middle East. The City Manager said
he had indicated to Bill Wanton the Commission's willingness to
participate in homecoming ceremonies and Mr. Wanton will make a
presentation to the City Commission at the next regular meeting.
Commissioner Cook also inquired whether a date had been established for
the first Commission meeting to be held in the new City Hall and the
City Manager said no date had as yet been established.
Commissioner Cook also referred to a memorandum from the Community
Development Director to the Mayor and Commissioners relative to a
height variance on Lot 7, Ocean Breeze, requested by Mr. & Mrs. Hansen.
Mr. Hansen had consulted with the City Attorney who had rendered a
written opinion on the matter. Commissioner Cook requested the matter
be brought before the City Commission for further discussion at the next
regular meeting along with sketches showing a side view of the proposed
dwelling to be built.
