The City Manager opened the meeting at 7:30 p.m. and announced that a
Public Hearing on appropriations for Federal Revenue Sharing for the
year 1981-82 was in session. Four people were present at the meetings
two citizens, one Commissioner, and one staff member. Mr. Moss
summarized the amount available for the year ($129,511.00) and read
several requests of suggestions for expenditures that he had received
in the mail. Included were: 1.) Consideration for the money to be spent
on preschool age children, such as added facilities at Russell Park,
and a child care center for working mothers; 2.) Land purchase for an
Ocean front park, and 3.) more lifeguards and an established program
for maintaining the cleanliness of the beach.
The City Manager then asked for any suggestions from the floor. Mr.
John Tucker, 42 11th St. recommended an expansion of City Hall and to
include the possibility of a small library. Mrs. John Tucker suggested
the purchase of new tables for the lobby and individual microphones
for the Commissioners.
As no one else spoke for or against, the City Manager declared the
Public Hearing closed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:34 p.m.
