COMMISSION HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON THURSDAY, MAY 17TH, 1962
AT 7 :30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor-Commissioner,
Mr. Isaacs .
Mr. Lawrence presented Resolution #62-12 requesting the Commission-
ers of Duval County to construct a roadway as a continuation of
the expressway from the Arlington Area to the County Area north
of Atlantic Beach to relieve traffic congestion and in the inter-
est of traffic safety and moved its adoption, seconded by Mr.
Moore and carried. Copy of Resolution #62-12 is attached to
these minutes and made a part thereof.
The Finance Committee reported that the bids received at the
Regular Meeting on May 14th, 1962 had been tabulated and studied
by them, the Engineer, Mr. Parks and the City Manager and that
it is their recommendation that the bid of Art Reinertson Con-
struction Co. is the lowest and best bid on the 12" transmission
line and the W. 8th St. Sewer Extension. Mr. Moore moved that
Resolution #62-13 accepting the bid of Art Reinertson Construc-
tion Co. as recommended, be adopted, seconded by Mr. Lawrence and
carried. Copy of Resolution # 62-13 is attached to these minutes
and made a part thereof.
The Finance Committee next recommended that the bid of Merrel
Gray Co. of Vidalia, Ga. be accepted as the lowest and best bid
on the 12" well. Mr. Moore moved the adoption of Resolution #
62-14 accepting the bid as recommended, seconded by Mr. Lawrence
and carried. Copy of Resolution #62-14 is attached to these min-
utes and made a part thereof.
There being no further business the ayor declared the meeting
adjourned. /

RESOLUTION 62-12
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
has been acutely aware of the growing traffic problem that
has become synonomous with the growth of the Ilayport Naval
Station, and,
WHEREAS, the need of a feeder roadway from the City of
Jacksonville to the Nay{port Naval Station has become in- •
creasingly necessary to relieve the congestion of traffic,
and,
WHEREAS, the construction of such a roadway would add to
the growth and development of the Beaches Area, and,
WHEREAS, in response to the pleas from State and National
safety officials , the construction of such a roadway would
be in the best interest of traffic safety, and,
W=EAS, such a thoroughfare would link the area' s three
military installations in time of emergency.
NOW THEIL;TORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Commission of
the City of Atlantic Beach respectfully request the County
Commissioners of Duval County to construct such a roadway
as a continuation of the expressway from the Arlington area
to the County area north of the City of Atlantic Beach.

RESOLUTION NO. 62-13
WHEREAS; the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach,
Florida, did duly advertise for bids for the furnishing of
all labor, materials, and equipment required by said City
for the construction of• a 12" Water Transmission Main,
Engineer Project #17-62, Item 3, with Alternate A and Sani-
tary Sewer Extension, West 8th Street and Mayport Road,
Engineer Project ,`8-62 with Alternate }'1, and
WHEREAS, in response thereto the said City- Commission re-
ceived bids• for the same on May 14th, 1962, which bids were
duly opened, read, tabulated, and considered by said City
Commission.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OP THE
CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, That:

Art Reinertson Construction Company, Jacksonville, Florida,
is hereby determined to be the lowest responsible bidder
for the furnishing of all said labor, materials, and equip-
ment required by said City for said work and that the said
bidder is hereby awarded a contract for the furnishing of all
said labor, materials, and equipment at the price of $10,554.37
to be paid in. manner set forth and specified in Specifications
for said work, said contract to be in the form specified in
the call for bids, a copy of which form of contract is on
file with the City Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor-Commissioner and the
City Clerk, be, and they are, hereby severally authorized
and directed to sign, execute, attest and deliver such
contract for and on behalf of said City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall take effect
immediately upon its passage.

RESOLUTION NO. 62-14

WHEREAS; the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach,
Florida, did duly advertise for bids for the furnishing of
all labor, materials, and equipment required by said City
for the constructing of a 12" drilled and cased well as
covered by Engineer Project #17-62, Item 1, and
WHEREAS, in response thereto the said City• Commission re-
ceived bids• for the same on May 14th, 1962, which bids were
duly opened, read, tabulated, and considered by said City
Commission.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY TIE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF ATLAIITIC BEACH, FLORIDA, That:
Merrill Gray Company of Vidalia, Georgia, a corporation, is
hereby determined to be the lowest responsible bidder for
the furnishing of all said labor, materials, and equipment
required by said City for said work and that the said bidder
is hereby awarded a contract for the furnishing of• all said
labor, materials, and equipment at the price of 88,959.00
to be paid in• manner set forth and specified in Specifications
for said work, said contract to be in the form specified in
the call for bids, a copy of which form of contract is on file
with the City Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that• the Mayor-Commissioner and the
City Clerk, be, and they are, hereby severally authorized
and directed to sign, execute, attest and deliver such
contract for and on behalf of said City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall take
effect immediately upon its passage.
