MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSION HELD
AT THE CITY HALL ON MONDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 23, 1963, AT 8:00 P.M.
Present:
George R. Olsen, Mayor-Commissioner
Charles R. Moore
Donald F. Goodling
C. B. Lawrence, Jr.
Walter J. Parks, Jr. , Commissioners
and
Frank Thompson, City Attorney
John R. Printon, City Manager
Absent: Adele S. Grage, City Clerk (vacation)
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor-Commissioner, Mr.
Olsen.
The City Manager was appointed acting City Clerk in the absence
of the City Clerk.
The invocation was given by Commissioner Walter J. Parks, Jr.
The minutes of the regular meeting of December 9, 1963, and
the Special meeting of December 16, 1963, were approved as
written.
Mr. Moore moved that the sign permit for 425 Atlantic Boulevard
be approved as submitted, seconded by Mr. Goodling and carried.
Correspondence was read from the City of Neptune Beach in re-
gard to re-establishing a coordinated Beach City Committee to
meet on common area problems. Mayor Olsen appointed Commissioners
Lawrence and Goodling to serve on the committee and stated he
would serve as alternate.
A short discussion followed a question by Mr. Lawrence as to
whether the City should make a public statement in regard to
the placing of a cable on the beach north of the City limits.
He was informed that the paper had carried a statement in which
the City disclaimed any part in the erection of the cable.
The City Manager was instructed to notify all City employees
that sirens or emergency lights would be removed from all
private vehicles.
The monthly report of the Department of Public Safety was order-
ed filed.
Mr. Thompson was asked about the progress of legal action in
which the City was involved. He stated that the appeal of

the St. Augustine Laundry and the R.C.B.S. Corp. were current.
Harcourt Bull explained to the newly seated Commissioners the
basis for the suit in which he was involved against the City.
After a brief discussion, the Mayor reminded the Commissioners
of the Budget Hearing at 9:00 A. M. on December 26, 1963.
There being no further business, the meeting was declared
adjourned.
