AT THE CITY HALL ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7th, 1969 AT 8: 00 .P. M.

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor-Commissioner, Mr.
Howell, and immediately went into session as a Canvassing Board to
receive the Certificate of Results from the Election Officials cover-
ing the Primary Election of City Officials for Commission Seats 1,
4 and 5.
Copies of the Certificates of Results of the Primary Election of
October 7, 1969 were presented to the Board by the Mayor and City
Clerk. Mr. Longo moved that Certificates be accepted as presented,
seconded by Mr. Rosborough and carried.
Mayor Howell then read Resolution #69-16 accepting the returns and
specifying the elected officials. Mr. Longo moved the adoption of
said Resolution #69-16, seconded by Mr. Rosborough and carried.
Whereupon Mr. Howell declared said Resolution adopted and the follow-
ing officials duly elected as indicated:
Seat #1 - William S. Howell, Mayor-Commissioner - (2 Years)
Seat #4 - L. W. Minton, Jr. , Commissioner - (4 Years)
Seat #5 - Preben Johansen, Commissioner - (4 Years)
Copy of Resolution #69-16 is attached to these minutes and made a
part hereof.
There being no further business the Mayor declared the meeting
adjourned.

WHEREAS, the Inspectors and the Clerk of the Primary Election
held in Atlantic Beach, Florida, on October 7, 1969, for the
purpose of electing a Mayor-Commissioner and two Commissioners
canvassed the votes cast and did make the returns on the same
in words as follows:

We, the Undersigned, being the Inspectors and Clerk appointed to
conduct the Primary Election in the City of Atlantic Beach, on
110 Tuesday, October 7, 1969, for the purpose of electing a Mayor-
Commissioner and two Commissioners, HEREBY CERTIFY That we con-
ducted said election on said date and counted the ballots and
find the results to be as follows:
The number of qualified voters, according to the Registration

The number of such qualified voters who participated in said

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That it is hereby unanimously
voted that said returns be accepted as reported, and
That it is hereby found and determined by the City Commission
of Atlantic Beach, Florida, acting in the capacity of a Canvassing
Board, that a majority of the qualified voters who participated
in said Primary Election cast their votes in favor of the above
candidates as follows:
SEAT #1, MAYOR-COMMISSIONER: Wm. S. Howell 494
SEAT #4, COMMISSIONER: Lamar W. Minton, Jr. 432
SEAT #5, COMMISSIONER: Preben JohansJn 465
and it is further found and determined that the above named candi-
dates are duly elected to serve for two years for Seat 4-1:1, and to
serve 4 years for Seats *4 and #5.
And be it Further Resolved, that all Candidates be and are hereby
commended for the dignified manner in which their campaigns were
conducted in said election.
