COUNCIL HELD TUESDAY, AUGUST 13th, 1946, AT 9:30 P.M.

The meeting was called to order, James A. Cranford pre-
siding.
The following Resolution was introduced by E. L. Chiasson,
seconded by E. L. Jones:
WHEREAS , The Inspectors and the Clerk of the General
Election held in Atlantic Beach, on August 13th, A.D. , 1946,
for the purpose of electing a Mayor and Five Councilmen,
canvassed the votes cast and did make due returns of the
same in words and figures as follows :

ATLANTIC BEACH, HELD ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 13th, 1946 , FOR
THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR. AND FIVE COUNCILMEN.

We , the undersigned , being the Inspectors and Clerk
appointed to conduct the General Election in the Town of
Atlantic Beach, on Tuesday, August 13th, 1946, for the
purpose of electing a Mayor and five Councilmen, hereby
certify that we conducted said election on said date ,
and counted the ballots cast for and against the cand-
idates whose names are printed on the ballots and find
the results to be as follows :
The number of qualified voters , according to the Registration Book, WAS--394
The number of such qualified voters who participated in said election,
and who cast ballots in said election, WAS 343
The number of Ballots cast for Andrew Greig for Mayor, WAS 67
The number of Ballots cast for Tune W. Parsons , Jr. for Mayor, WAS 30
The number of Ballots cast for G. L. Rosborough for Mayor, WAS 246
The number of Ballots cast for Raymond Brown for Councilman, WAS $5
The number of Ballots cast for Harcourt Bull, Jr. for Councilman , WAS 235

It is herewitI unanimously voted that said returns
be accepted as reported.
Be it further resolved, and it is hereby found and
determined by the Town Council of Atlantic Beach, acting
in the capacity of a canvassing board, that a majority
of the qualified voters , who participated in said General
Election cast their votes in favor of the above candidates
as follows :

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE NEWLY ELECTED TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACH HELD TUESDAY, AUGUST 13th„
1946, AT THE TOWN HALL.AT 9:45 P.M.
. The following were sworn into office by the Town Clerk:
G. L. Rosborough, Mayor
and
Harcourt Bull, Jr
Will D. Merritt
Norman Al Minchew
Beale Travis
W. E. Williams , Jr. , Councilmen
The Mayor presided and called for nominations for
temporary president and vice president.
Upon motion of Harcourt Bull, Jr. seconded by W. E. Williams,Jr.
Beale Travis was made temporary president.
Upon motion of W. E. Williams , Jr. ,seconded by Beale Travis
Harcourt Bull, Jr. was made temporary vice president.
A Resolution was introduced by Norman Minchew, seconded
by Harcourt Bull, Jr. and passed as follows :

BE IT RESOLMED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL: That
the present employees be retained until permanent appoint-
ments are made at next meeting.
Upon motion of Harcourt Bull, Jr. seconded by Norman
Minchew Tuesday, August 20th, 1946, at $ P.M. was chosen
as the time for next meeting.
Mr. Frazier was requested to see Mr. Sollee , the County
Engineer relative to the Hotel Reservation Road for
suggestions and help. Also perhaps the County would
act as Engineers on this Road.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
