BACKGROUND: The bid is to provide an annual contract for providing polymer to the City for
use in the wastewater treatment facilities. Polymer is a chemical used for thickening and dewatering
treated biosolids prior to disposal at the Trail Ridge Landfill..
Prior to the bid opening date, all suppliers provided a sample of their polymer for trial at the
Atlantic Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant #1, and all polymers met the treatment requirements
for the plant operating permit.
Three bids were received on Mazch 6, 2002 for Polymer for Wastewater Treatment Plants -Annual
Contract, Bid No. 0102-5. The low bidder was Ondeo Nalco at a price of $0.832 per pound. Our
current cost is $0.86 per pound.
BUDGET: Polymer is budgeted in the Sewer Treatment account number 410-5508-535-5200
in the amount of $20,000.
RECOMMENDATION:. Award the bid for Polymer for Wastewater Treatment Plants -
Annual Contract, Bid No. 0102-5 to Ondeo Nalco at a price of $0.832 per pound.
