AGENDA ITEM: Authorize Staffto revise the existing dune crossovers at 6,
11 and 13th Street to make them handicap accessible

BACKGROUND: Staff designed and constructed three dune crossovers.
After constructing the crossovers, we ran into a problem
when the Beach washed out and caused three to four feet of
erosion. Because of the erosion, the crossovers are not
handicap accessible. Staffrecommends turning the ramps
ninety degrees southward along the dune line to get the
slope needed for handicap accessibility. This project went
to bid and the Subcontractor of the company with the low
bid has provided a unit price lower than the original bid.
The total to revise the ramps are $30,000 or $28 a square
foot. We recommend using this company, Alltype Marine
Construction because their price is lower than all original
bids..
BUDGET: A portion of this project was funded last yeaz, but was not
carried over. We received a matching grant frombEP that
will pay for 50% of the cost. The account number is 300-
0000-572-63-00.
