OVERVIEW A. Branding and Signage Initiative (RFP 19-03) Amanda Askew, City Principal Planner, gave a brief history of how the Branding and Signage Initiative was developed. Ms. Askew explained the process for the Request for Proposal (RFP) which resulted in four firms submitting proposals. There are two (2) companies that scored the highest in response to the RFPs and they will be giving presentations at this meeting. Ms. Askew explained the intent of the initiative as follows: To develop a distinct community brand that will be consistently applied to all aspects of City operations, including signage, print, electronic maps, social media, and other applications." It is anticipated that this is to include a logo, a color pallet, a tag line, and a key message. Commissioner Norris arrived at 5:33 PM. 2. PRESENTATIONS A. Aqua Marketing Communications Design Mayor Glasser introduced David DiMaggio, President of Aqua Marketing Communications Design, and Elliot Cohen, Vice -President of Campaign Communication. They were invited to make their presentation. Commission Workshop July 8, 2019 Page 1 of 2 Mr. DiMaggio and Mr. Cohen provided a PowerPoint presentation on the company's history, expertise, awards, and their vision forward for the City of Atlantic Beach COAB). This is a full service marketing communications firm that is government specific, having served twenty four (24) different government entities. B. Axia Mr. Todd Mayfield, of Axia Creative, gave a PowerPoint presentation on the history of the company, provided samples of the company's branding techniques, and explained the different phases of the branding process. Their specialty is Place Branding and Way Finding, working with over fifty (50) communities throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. Mayor Glasser opened the floor to the Commissioners for questions. Discussion and questions ensued about the timelines for reviews/revisions, mission priorities, neighborhood improvement and community identity, not defining COAB with tourism, branding/color/design unique to COAB, file ownership, and service costs/budgeting. All questions were answered. 3. COMMISSION DISCUSSION Principal Planner Askew stated that staff is requesting the Commission to provide direction whether to proceed with negotiations for a Community Branding and Signage Initiative agreement with one of these two firms. It has been placed on the next Regular Commission Meeting agenda for a vote, Item #10. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT Linda Chipperfield provided suggestions on how to choose the best branding company.
