02-21-01vMINUTES OF FIRST NIGHT COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER KICK-OFF MEETING February 21, 2001 A meeting of the First Night Committee was held Wednesday February 21, 2001, in the. City Hall Commission Chambers. Present were Portia Ackerman, Jane Ambler, Kim Armstrong, Laurie Ballinger, Caryn Best, Sally Clemens, Diane Dyaz, Robert Frary, Chip Gavron, Janice Gilpin, Lauren Goldenberg, Cindy Grossberg, Mary Jenkins, Christine Kirk, Kim Magley, Mayor John Meserve, Al Monte, Deb Monte, Lisa Payton, Suzanne Shaughnessy, Paige Slade, Kathleen Smith-Beaudreau, Susan Stanton, Bob Tipton, Michelle Tipton and City Liaison Susan Dunham. 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. Kim Armstrong, Executive Director of First Night, introduced herself and discussed First Night and its history. Ms. Armstrong fiirther updated the attendees on the status of First Night. She stated that she has been working with the City Attorney and the City Commission to begin the process of filing for 501(c)(3) status. Ms. Arinstrorig introduced the Board of Directors of First Night who were put into place for purposes of filing the 501(c)(3) paperwork. Ms. Armstrong then displayed an organizational chart of First Night. She stated that each committee needed a chairperson. Ms. Armstrong advised that tables had been erected around the room for each committee and that sign up sheets were located at each station. She suggested that the attendees talk to the mentors manning the stations to learn about particular committees. Ms. Jenkins, President of the Board of Directors of First Night introduced Suzanne Shaughnessy who will be chairing the fundraiser. Ms. Shaughnessy talked briefly with regard to the fundraiser. She described the event and encouraged the attendees to come and enjoy the fundraiser. She advised that the fundraiser is held to keep the fee nominal for the First Night event. Ms. Shaughnessy solicited volunteers who might be \\it I ing to assist with the fundraiser.
