12-03-97"FIRST NIGHT" STEERING COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING OF DECEMBER 3, 1997 The "First Night" Steering Committee held its regular meeting on Wednesday, December 3, in the Commission Chambers. Pre- sent were: Co -Chairpersons Nancy DeCandis and Rosemary Flet- cher, Woody Winfree, Pam Bushnell, Dezmond Waters, Thelma Fugere, Cindy Grossberg, Karen Summers, Donna Zimmerman, Peggy Neville, and Carl Walker, Board Coordinator. The meeting was called to order at 7:40 PM by Nancy DeCandis. Minutes of the last meeting were not yet prepared. Woody Winfree reported that Howell Park had been the final selection as the site for the sculpture and described the lo- cation within the park for the artwork. For programming, she also advised that the final contracts were arriving and the scheduling was complete. Thelma, for logistics/operations, advised that the final de- tails were being completed and thanked Cindy Grossberg for her work and dedication. Thelma answered questions posed by the members and went over other operational specifics. Donna Zimmerman announced that letters were out to volunteers and that training needed to be done by site captains, some of whom have already been assigned. Other aspects of securing volunteers were recommended and will be considered. The remainder of the meeting was spent in final "brain- storming", with the purpose of preventing any last minute problems or unsolved situations. It was agreed that a meeting should be held in two weeks (De- cember 1%). With no further business, the meeting was ad- journed at 8:25 PM. Carl Walker Board Coordinator
