11-20-96"FIRST NIGHT" STEERING COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF MEETING OF NOVEMBER 20, 1996
The "First Night" Steering Committee met in the Commission
Chambers on Wednesday, November 6. Present were: Dezmond
Waters, Nancy Wielgus, Rosemary Fletcher, Pam Bushnell, Donna
Zimmerman, Tim and Lavinia Kubiak, Thelma Fugere, Rob Judas,
Elaine Kenney, Peggy Neville, and Karen Summers.
The meeting was called to order at 7:40 PM. It was reported
by Elaine Kenney that many of the 400 posters are now in
place. She asked for help from other members in distributing
the remaining posters as it is a very time consuming task.
Several people volunteered to handle the distribution and
posting at specific areas.
Nancy Wielgus, in the absence of Pam Bushnell, reported that
most all of the printing work has been accomplished. The
buttons will be in next week, in time for distribution at the
assigned locations for selling. Tim Kubiak will oversee the
distribution of the buttons. An "informational" sheet will
be distributed to vendors along with the buttons. News media
will begin doing coverage of the event as it draws closer.
The answering service line is in place and working. It was
secured at a very reasonable cost and will remain installed
until approximately January 15. The new brochure wa$ dis-
tributed and praised for its content and professional look.
Donna Zimmerman advised that a sub -committee meeting was re-
cently held so that volunteer needs could be determined for
each of the 6 site locations. Barbara Benisch is working on
a site chart to log the volunteers. Other details concerning
the logistics of the volunteer workers were discussed.
Donna advised that it had been decided not to hold a recruit-
ment party on November 23 but to focus on the one to be held
on December 8. Details for that event were outlined.
Rosemary Fletcher reported that the programming was now com-
plete and offered a wide variety of entertainment for all
ages. Karen Summers complimented Rosemary and her committee
for their efforts and professionalism. The posters and hand-
outs were also praised.
Rob Judas, reporting for Suzanne, distributed an updated copy
of the event budget and asked that each sub -committee chair
recheck to see if additional changes were needed or if ad-
justments were necessary.
