Re: Proposed fence and retaining wall at Lot 37, Block 6 Atlantic Beach subdivision
Dear Ms. Hall:
The City’s Director of Public Works has provided a copy of correspondence to me regarding the
construction of a fence and retaining wall proposed at 390 Fifth Street. While an application for
a fence permit has apparently not yet been submitted to the Building Department, I wanted to
advise you regarding the maximum height of fences within the City. Your elevation appears to
depict a fence that is eight (8) feet in height. The maximum height of fences in any location is
six (6) feet, and the height of fence would be measured from the lowest grade adjacent to the
fence or retaining wall. (The retaining wall would be considered as a part of the fence for the
purpose of determining the height of the fence.) I have enclosed the applicable section form the
City’s Land Development Regulations. Please feel free to call me at 247-5826 with any
