2446 Seminole Road (Puopollo)Dear Mr. Puopolo - I believe it is possible to get a small well for your personal use, but let me give you a contact at the St. Johns River Water Management District. Her name is Caroline Silvers, and she is the permitting coordinator for the local office. Her number is 448-7903. I believe she is on vacation this week, and if so, you might see if there is someone else who can provide you with information. I believe under certain sizes a permit from the district may not even be necessary, but a well permit would be required from the City. Regarding City water, currently the City does not have water service at that location--the nearest line ends at the house at Oceanforest & Seminole. Extending a line or service would have to be paid for by the property owner. We discussed this option with Mr. Glover's caretaker also, noting that the affected neighbors have the option to get together to petition the City Commission for an assessment if they desire. I have requested a written quote for the cost of this work from the City's annual contractor, Gruhn May, Inc., and will let you know the estimated cost when I receive it. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 247-5834. I can advise that the St. Johns River Water Management District has very, very strict permitting requirements for deep wells, but Donna will be more knowledgeable with respect to this issue. Our subdivision regulations have been amended. I have attached the applicable provisions, which I think are fairly straightforward; however, all new lots are still required to be a minimum of 75 feet in width at the Building Restriction Line and 100 feet in depth. Section 24-189 addresses conditions where a plat is not required. Sonya B. It seems the property receives its water from a well on Mr. Glover's land across the street and he has asked us to look into correcting that. I've spoken to a couple of well drilling companies and also wanted to check with you. * Is there anything prohibiting us from sinking a "deep" well on the property, perhaps 300-500' deep? * Also, does the option of converting to city water exist? Secondly, when we spoke in early May, the city of AB was considering the adoption of new replatting procedures and requirements. Did this happen and if so, do you think this property would qualify? The lot measures 72.5' x 600'. Those are the only questions I have right now. Our immediate plans for the property are to rip out the carpeting, fix a few roof leaks and repaint. My current residence is for sale and if that happens in the next 3 months we'll probably move right into the Seminole Road house. Otherwise we might stick a "For Rent" sign in the yard and have a tenant help us make the payments. Thanks for your time, Joe Puopolo 270-1118
