RE: Sign Permit application (Permit Application No. 03-25442)
COMMENTS: The above referenced application for a Sign Permit has been reviewed by the
Building and Zoning Departments. The application cannot be approved as submitted, in that the
existing sign for Beach Diner, located at 501 Atlantic Boulevard, is a nonconforming sign.
Chapter 17-14(3)i. of the City Code (provided herewith) requires nonconforming signs to be brought
into compliance when any change to structural supports is made. Further, the addition of the
proposed reader board would increase nonconforming elements of the sign as the reader board
exceeds the maximum eight (8) foot height allowed for signs.
