A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH,FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE NEW
TASER 7 DEVICES DURING THE 2021-2022 FISCAL YEAR.
WHEREAS, periodically the Atlantic Beach Police Department evaluates the TASER
non-lethal technology used by ABPD Officers to ensure that it is safe and effective for public
safety activities; and
WHEREAS, the purchase new TASER 7 non-lethal devices is a best practice for the
protection of citizens and Police Officers in Atlantic Beach both physically and civilly; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has determined that purchasing the TASER 7 units
for all 32 sworn officers under a bundled package paid for over five (5) years is the most cost
effective way to equip ABPD Officers with this technology; and
WHEREAS, the bundled equipment package along with the trade in of the current
TASER units owned by ABPD will result in a$28,000 cost savings; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of this purchase in $105,000, the funds necessary to pay for
the first years installment of$17,070 are available in the 2021-22 Police Department Budget; and
WHEREAS, AXON Enterprises is a sole source provider of this technology;
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic
Beach as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to approve the
necessary purchasing process to enter into an agreement to purchase the TASER 7 Certification
Bundle Package for the ABPD.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
