No permit should be issued until both permit applications are received. Each permit application should include a site plan, drawn to scale, showing the size, location, and distance to lot-lines and buildings of all equipment and fuel gas containers. Permit applications for generators are routed to Zoning, Building, and Public Works Departments. Generators, AC units, and other similar equipment that makes excessive noise must be a minimum of 5 feet from any lot-line. Generators cannot be approved in front yards, if over 30-inches in height. There are several types and sizes of fuel gas supplies and tanks with different requirements. a. Natural Gas. The regulations for the installation and location of natural gas supply lines and equipment are found in the Florida Building Code – Fuel Gas (FBC-FG). Natural gas meters are not included in the gas permit. Regulation by the Building Department starts after the natural gas meter, and includes all gas piping and connections after the meter. b. LP Gas. The regulations for the installation and location of LP gas tanks, supply lines, and equipment are found in NFPA 58. The type, size, and installation method of the tank and all gas piping must be included with the permit application. Regulation by the Building Department includes the LP tank and all gas piping and connections. Fuel gas containers located in flood zones must be above the DFE or anchored to resist displacement and floatation. (DFE = FEMA BFE + 2.5 feet) Fuel gas containers located in stormwater storage areas must anchored to resist displacement and floatation. Buried fuel gas containers must be a minimum 10-feet from any building or lot line in the side or rear yards. Containers can be buried within 2-feet of a property line, next to an adjoining front yard. 8/12/20, 3/25/21
