Ordinance No. 5-00-33 v ORDINANCE NO. 5-00-33 • AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, ARTICLE H, CITY COMMISSION, SEC. 2-20, SALARY OF MEMBERS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the Florida League of Cities provides comparisons of the salaries of elected officials throughout the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, the Cooperative Salary Survey of February 2000, which is based on population and other information, indicates that the salaries paid to Atlantic Beach City Commissioners is lower than salaries paid to elected officials in other Florida cities with similar demographics; and WHEREAS, the salary of Atlantic Beach elected officials was last increased in 1983. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 2-20 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, is hereby i amended to read as follows: Sec. 2-20. Salary of members. (a) The annual salary of the mayor-commissioner shall be five ten thousand dollars ($5-,000) ($10,000). The annual salary of the commissioners shall be two-thousand five hundicd six thousand dollars($2,500) ($6,000) . (b) The salary of the mayor-commissioner and commissioners shall be made in twelve (12) equal monthly payments. Effective August 1 each year the basic salary of the mayor-commissioner and city commissioners shall be reviewed and increased if appropriate with the actions over the preceding year's economy. The salary of the mayor-commissioner and city commissioner shall be reviewed and increased if appropriate at the same time, and at no greater percentage than that received by general employees. This review and increase in basic salary does not negate an annual cost of living increase that might be awarded each year to all City of Atlantic Beach employees . • Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its final passage and adoption.
