Ordinance No. 5-02-39 vORDINANCE NO. 5-02-39 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING CEfAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, ARTICLE II, CTI'Y COMMISSION, SEC. 2-20, SALARY OF MEMBERS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTNE DATE VVHER.EAS, the Florida League of Cities provides comparisons of the salaries of elected official throughout the State of Florida;. and VVI~REAS, the Cooperative Salary Survey of 2002, which is based on population and other information, indicates that the salaries paid to Atlantic Beach City Commissioners are lower than salaries paid to elected officials in other Florida cities with similar demographics; and WHEREAS, the salary of Atlantic Beach elected officials was last increased in 2000, NOW, ~TiEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY TIID CITY COMIVIISSION ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. Section 2-2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, is hereby amended to read as follows Sec. 2-20. Salary of members. (a) The annual salary of the mayor and commissioners shall be ,made in twelve (12) equal monthly payments. (b) Effective August 1 of each year, the basic salary of the mayor and commissioners shall be reviewed and adjusted to the average salary reflected in the Florida League of Cities Cooperative Salary .Survey, Group II, for cities of 10,000 to 49,999 population, adjusted to delete full time positions and compare only the same cities as included within the prior years surveys. Adjustments, if any, shall not exceed the cost of living adjustment provided to general employees, and shall be effective on November 1 in the year 2003, and on October 1 of each year thereafter. (c) This review and increase in basic salary does not negate an annual cost of living increase that might be awarded each. year to all City of Atlantic Beach employees. SECTION 2: This Ordinance shall take effect November 1, 2003. PASSED by the City Commission on first reading this 23rd day of September, 2002.
