BACKGROUND: he City Commission has recognized the need to increase the City's
a 'lity to recruit and retain employees.
On A it 11, 2022, the Commission unanimously agreed to increase the
City's Ny scale by 9%, in an attempt to both recruit qualified applicants

This results in 9 emOyees not receiving the entire 12% salary
adjustment. \
BUDGET: Sufficient funds are inclu within the current budget amendment
being considered.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve an exemption to the ity policy, allowing those otherwise
eligible to receive the entire 1 o salary adjustment, even though it
puts them over the maximum o eir pay grade.

RESOLUTION NO. 22-29
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH EXEMPTING
• EMPLOYEES FROM THE POLICY PROHIBITING SALARY OVER THE
PAY GRADE MAXIMUM, TO ENSURE THAT THOSE OTHERWISE
ELIGIBLE WILL RECEIVE THE ENTIRE 12% SALARY ADJUSTMENT.
WHEREAS, on March 28, 2022, the Commission recognized the need to take steps to
better position the City to recruit and retain employees; and
WHEREAS, on Aril 11, 2022, the Commission unanimously approved an increase to the
City's pay scale by 9%;
WHEREAS, on April 11, 2022, the Commission approved the first reading of a budget
amendment to give all employees not on a step plan a 12% salary adjustment;
WHEREAS, the City has a policy that no employee may go over the salary maximum for
their pay grade;
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby exempts those employees who would
otherwise not receive the entire 12% salary adjustment from the City from the maxed out policy.
• SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
