A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
STAFF TO ISSUE A TASK AUTHORIZATION TO HANSON PROFESSIONAL
SERVICES FOR DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR SIDEWALK
IMPROVEMENTS ALONG LEVY ROAD FROM MAIN STREET TO MAYPORT
ROAD; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS AND
PURCHASE ORDERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on April 18, 2022, staff received a scope and fee proposal from Hanson Professional
Services in the amount of $39,427.55 to provide professional design and engineering services to produce plans
and an opinion of probable construction cost for sidewalk improvements along Levy Road; and
WHEREAS, the project consists of replacing the existing 5 foot wide sidewalk with an 8 foot wide along
the north side of the roadway from Main Street to Mayport Road. Additional improvements will include driveway
replacement, pedestrian safety improvements at the intersection of Levy Road and Main Street and drainage
improvements to accommodate the 8 foot wide sidewalk; and
WHEREAS, the City has successfully obtained a Community Development Block Grant in the amount
of $91,000 for this project, and currently has $259,000 set aside for the design and construction of the project; and
WHEREAS, the City has a Professional Engineering Services Agreement with Hanson Professional
Services, and this scope of work would be Task Authorization No. RFQ20-01-HPS-TA#4 under said agreement;
and
WHEREAS, funding is available in account 300-6020-572-6300 under project number PR2208 "Levy
Road Multiuse Path."
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute Task Authorization
No. RFQ20-01-HPS-TA#4 with Hanson Professional Services in the amount of $39,427.55 to produce plans and
an opinion of probable cost for the sidewalk improvements on Levy Road from Main Street to Mayport Road as
described in Hanson Professional Services Scope and Fee proposal dated April 18, 2022, and;
SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to approve a Purchase Order to
Hanson Professional Services in the amount of $39,427.55 for said Task Authorization.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
