Ordinance No. 25-96-28 v • ORDINANCE NO. 25-96-28 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 6, BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULA- TIONS, BY ADOPTING VARIOUS STANDARD CODES RELATING TO INSPECTION ACTIVITIES AND ENFORCEMENT OF BUILDING PROVISIONS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach to adopt, in all respects, various standard codes relating to building, electric, plumbing, mechanical, swimming pool, housing, gas, amusement devices, fire prevention, and WHEREAS, the adoption of these codes is done to facilitate proper inspection activities by the City relating to construction and maintenance of buildings within the City and relating to the public health, safety and welfare. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida: SECTION 1. The applicable sections of Chapter 6, Buildings and Building Regula- 41) tions, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, are hereby amended to incorporate by reference, as if fully set forth therein, the following standard codes, to-wit: (1) Standard Building Code, 1994 Edition (§6-16) (2) National Electric Code, 1996 Edition (§6-31) (3) Standard Plumbing Code, 1994 Edition (§6-56) (4) Standard Mechanical Code, 1994 Edition (§6-76) (5) Standard Swimming Pool Code, 1991 Edition with 1993/1994 revisions (§6-91) (6) Standard Housing Code, 1991 Edition with 1992/1994 revisions (§6-120) (7) Standard Gas Code, 1994 Edition (§6-141) (8) Standard Amusement Device Code, 1985 Edition (§6-161) (9) Standard Existing Building Code, 1988 Edition with 1991/1994 revisions (10) Standard Unsafe Building Abatement Code, 1985 Edition (11) Standard Fire Prevention Code, 1994 Edition The above standard codes shall prevail over any existing provisions contained in the Code of Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach which are contrary to or inconsistent with said standard codes. 0 SECTION 2. Sec. 6-17, Article II, Chapter 4, of the Code Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, is hereby repealed. • SECTION 3. Whenever the above standard codes make reference to duties of a certain official named therein, that designated official for the City of Atlantic Beach shall be the one who has duties corresponding to those of the named official in said standard codes, and said official shall be deemed to be the responsible official insofar as enforcing the provisions of said standard codes. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its final passage and adoption. PASSED by the City Commission on first reading this 8th day of April, 1996.
