ORDINANCE NO.
/0 AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE BUILDING
OF FALLOUT SHELTERS AND PROVIDING
I. - THAT ANY INCREASE IN THE VALUE OF
PROPERTY UPON WHICH THE SAME IS
CONSTRUCTED SHALL NOT BE TAKEN INTO
ACCOUNT IN THE ASSESSMENT OF SUCH
PROPERTY FOR ADVALOREM TAX PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH,
FLORIDA.
Section 1. The construction of fallout shelters for the pro-
tection of persons from radio active fallout may be built
within .the City of Atlantic Beach. Said shelters shall com-
ply with the set back requirements for "Accessory Buildings "
in accordance with Ordinance 90-59-3. Said shelters shall
be built according to the general plans and specifications
setup by the Office of Civil and Defense Mobilization.
Section 2. The Tax Assessor of the City of Atlantic Beach
is hereby instructed and directed not to consider a fallout
shelter constructed on any property within the City and
11, designed to be used only for protection from radio active
fallout or other disaster as increasing the valuation of
the property upon which it is built for advalorem tax pur-
poses.
Any shelter that is used for any other purpose
other than for the protection against fallout or other
disaster shall be assessed the same as all other real
property within the City.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its passage on final reading.
Passed by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach,
Florida on first reading September 11th, 1961.
