A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPT. TO PURCHASE A 2023
INTERNATIONAL MV607 SBA CLAM TRUCK WITH A PETERSEN TL3
GRAPPLE LOADER; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE THE
PURCHASE ORDER IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Public Works Dept. is intending to purchase a new 2023 International MV607 SBA
Clam Truck with a Petersen TL3 Grapple Loader under the Florida Sheriff's Association Contract #BID FSA20-
VEH 18 in the amount of $185,585.00 from Cumberland International Trucks, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, this truck will be used as the City's primary Clam Truck upon its arrival (estimated to be
one year from the date of Purchase Order). The current Clam Truck, a 2007 Sterling LT9500 with a PacMac
Grapple Loader (26,634 miles) will currently be kept in the City's fleet. Staff will evaluate upon the new truck's
arrival whether or not to keep this truck as a backup or sell at that time; and
WHEREAS, this type of truck benefits the City in many ways. It helps keep our City right-of-ways clear
of debris on a routine basis, allowing the Public Works Dept. to efficiently pick up large excess piles of
trash/furniture/misc. created from residents moving, evictions and illegal dumps, etc. and excess piles of yard
debris created from storms, clean up events and illegal dumps. This equipment enables staff to transport larger
amounts of debris in a timely manner from City right-of-ways to the City yard for disposal, thus keeping our right-
of-ways clear and allowing for the free flow of stormwater during rain events; and
WHEREAS, there is currently $150,000.00 budgeted in the Sanitation Account 420-4201-534-6401 for
a Clam Truck. The balance to purchase 'the International MV607 Clam Truck with a Petersen TL3 Grapple
Loader, $35,585.00, will come from the FY21-22 Streets Department budget. The total of $185,585.00 will come
from the FY21-22 budget.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby approves Resolution No. 22-50 authorizing the Public Works
Dept. to purchase a 2023 International MV607 SBA Clam Truck with a Petersen TL3 Grapple Loader in the
amount of $185,585.00 from Cumberland International Trucks, Inc.;
SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to approve a Purchase Order to
Cumberland International Trucks, Inc. in the amount of $185,585.00;
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
