Glenn,
The only additional document I will need is a letter from the neighboring property
authorizing mitigation to be planted on their property and acknowledging it will be
their responsibility to maintain its health for 3 years following the date the permit is
closed out.
Once I receive this letter, I can approve the permit. You have 30 days to install the
trees, but we can be flexible with this time line.

We talked to a nursery and can get the 4 inch trees required. Our neighbor,
Steve, will plant a 4 inch bald cypress in his back yard. Since the maple
tree to be removed is on the property line, you said this would be allowed
for the mitigation. We will plant a 4 inch southern magnolia and 4 inch
red cedar in the front yard, and a 4 inch Florida elm in the side yard. I
filled in the form and it is attached, but the form is so small, it is
difficult to try to read.
What is the time frame in which these trees need to be planted?
Is there anything else on our end that we need to do to complete the
permit?

Good morning,
Please see the attached mitigation calculations for the proposed tree
removal. The total mitigation owed is 16”, which is equivalent to
$2,400.00. Please see information about meeting mitigation below:
· Mitigation shall come in the form of planting trees on site, paying
into the tree fund, or a combination of the two. The tree fund rate is
$150.00 per inch owed.
· All new trees must be selected from the attached approved species
list.
· Maritime species must be replaced with other maritime species
(listed on last page of approved species list).
· You must plant at least 25% of maritime species on site (minimum
4”).
· All new live oak trees must be 4” in caliper and 12 feet in height at
time of planting.
· All other new species must be 2” in caliper and 10 feet in height at
time of planting.
Example Mitigation Plans
· Plant four 4” maritime species trees = 16” of mitigation
· Plant two 4” maritime species trees = 8” of mitigation. Pay $1,200.00
· Plant one 4” maritime species tree = 4” of mitigation, pay $1,800.00
The next step is to submit a mitigation plan. Please provided your
proposed tree species, number of trees, and their caliper size. If you
plan to pay, please detail that amount.
Let me know if you have any questions.
