Fellows, City Manager From: Rene' Angers, Community Devel r` e t 'oordinator Subject : Proposed Ordinance No. 60-x440 Amending the Sign Code I have been in contact with the leasing company for the Atlantic Village Shopping Center regarding real estate advertising signs. Our current sign ordinance permits only one real estate advertising sign not to exceed four square feet in area in all zoning districts. The management company has a good point in that a 2' x 2' sign may be sufficient for advertising a home but may not be practical for advertising a large shopping center such as Atlantic Village. Across Atlantic Boulevard, in the City of Neptune Beach, real estate signs in commercial districts are permitted up to 32 square feet in area whereas residential real estate signs are restricted to four square feet. Ordinance No. 60-89-6, addressing this matter, is attached for your review. §2-11 NEPTUNE BEACH CODE §2-11 (d) Integral decorative or architectural features of build- ings, except letters, trademarks, moving parts or mov- ing lights. (e) Signs on private premises directing and guiding traffic and parking on private property, but bearing no adver- tising matter. (f) On-site signs advertising property for sale or rent and open house signs and directional signs directly related thereto, provided such signs in residential districts shall not exceed four (4) square feet and in all other zoning districts shall not exceed thirty-two (32) square feet. (g) On-site signs on the site of any construction work bear- • ing the name of the building owner or those furnishing construction or professional services or materiala used • on such construction work. (h) Temporary poster signs erected behind glass windows or temporary signs painted on glass windows. (i) Any political sign or poster not exceeding four (4) square feet in residential_zones and thirty-two (32) square feet in all other zoning districts erected on prop- erty by the owner thereof or with the property own- er's consent pertaining to a candidacy or issue to be voted upon at an election or referendum, provided such sign or poster shall not be erected more than fourteen (14) days prior to such election or referendum and shall be removed within forty-eight(48)hours after such election or referendum. (j) Signs painted or attached to trucks or other vehicles for identification purposes. (Ord. No. 76-4-4, § 1, 4-12-76; Ord.
