Hi Abrielle!
See below for the planned trees:
4-4" Cedar
1-4" Drake Elm
1-4" Magnolia
1-2" Magnolia
I questioned the Hickory Creek Nursery regarding the type of Magnolia, Elm and Cedar trees because I
wanted to make sure they would salsify the mitigation.
Here is the response:
"the Drake elm is in the same family as the other elms you listed. And the magnolia is the Southern
magnolia, magnolia grandiflora". "Southern Red Cedar"
I hope all of the trees meet the requirements.
Thanks for your assistance,
Joyce Freeman

Hi Abrielle,
I had not submitted the mitigation plan because we had to order trees. I am waiting to hear from the
nursery.
Thanks for following up with me.

Subject: 149 Donner Road Tree Mitigation
Joyce,
Please see the attached tree removal permit mitigation calculations. A total 52” of mitigation is
owed, which is equivalent to $7,800.00. Below is information about meeting mitigation:
· Mitigation shall come in the form of planting trees on site, paying into the tree fund, or
a combination of the two. The rate for mitigation is $150.00 per inch owed.
· All new trees must be selected from the attached approved species list.
· The pines being removed are slash pines, which are not maritime species. Planting a
designated maritime species will result in double credit. For example, a 4” live oak = 8” of
credit.
· New oaks must have a 4” caliper (diameter measured 6” about the ground) and be 12
feet in height at time of planting.
· All other new trees must have a 2” caliper and be 10 feet in height at time of planting.
· You must plant at least 1- 4” shade tree in the front yard.
Example mitigation plans:
· PLANT ALL: Plant 6 -4” maritime species and 1- 2” maritime species trees = 52” of credit
· PLANT HALF: Plant 3- 4” maritime species = 24” of credit, pay for 28” ($4,200.00)
· PLANT MINIMUM: Plan 1- 4” maritime species = 8” of credit, pay for 44” ($6,600.00)
The next step is to submit a proposed mitigation plan. For this please provide a site plan showing the
location of new tree(s), their species and caliper size. Once I receive a sufficient mitigation plan, I can
issue the permit and you may remove the trees.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
