Re: Correction to September 8, 2020 Opposition by Susan Hill and
Gregory West to ZVAR-20-0014 at 1966 Beach Avenue (September 15, 2020
Meeting)
In the fourth paragraph of our opposition dated September 8, 2020, we
stated the following:
“The uninterrupted sidewalk on the south side of 19th Street was part
of the 1993 Commissioners’ plan instituting safe parallel parking. It
was intended to be a safe uninterrupted way to get to the beach from
cars and from the neighborhood west of Seminole.” (Emphasis added.)
After we sent our opposition, one of our neighbors reminded us that,
until probably fifteen years or more ago, there was a small one-story
concrete block house on the south side of 19th Street that did have
parking access onto 19th Street. 19th Street is, however, a much busier
street now than it was in 1993 or even fifteen years ago. The Commission
should not grant applicant's request for a driveway access across the
sidewalk on 19th Street when there are the parking, traffic safety and
other public safety concerns now in 2020, all as set forth in our
original objection.
